Header Tank
I
made up this header tank using a 2L plastic lemonade bottle, and
an old BX rad cap.
The
idea is that the weight of water in the homemade header tank, plus
the fact that it does not allow any air into the cooling system
will make for faster bleeding of the cooling system. A professional
version is used by many Citroen dealers and specialists.
I
simply removed the spring etc from the old rad cap and bored a hole
to the size of the threaded part of the lemonade bottle. The neck
of the bottle was then screwed throgh the rad cap, then the lid
of the bottle screwed on to make it all secure.
The
cost was basically nothing. A new rad cap is the first port of call
for anyone buying a BX, costs about £4.00! The old one can
be utilised as I suggest here.
