Post by RxBX »

E-bay Seller wrote: Here we have my father in laws pride and joy, but unfortunately has had to give up driving. He has owned the car since new and has always looked after it. It was Mot'ed on the 1st of March by Duff Morgan the Citroen dealers in Norwich , there was a couple of advisory items ie tyres exhaust brake pipes and seat belt flexible stalk damaged. all very minor things and nothing for a car of this age. These are becoming a classic in there own right. Lot of history with this car.

This car drives like new and has only done 87,000 this is nothing for a car that was was registered in 1992, so it is 20 years old, which equals to less than 4500 miles a year average.

if you wish to inspect the car, it will be in Norwich until Wednesday and then in Cromer from there on wards.

Please no dealers etc

This car is priced to sell, any offer must be over the starting price.

clear funds only on collection

you bid, you win you pay.

many thanks for looking

PS this car is advertised elsewhere so reserve the right to withdraw at any time

Good luck to who ever secures this one and whoever does, please fit some proper GTi/TZD or 'Z' wheel trims ASAP or even (Speed-line Alloy's) !

Hmmmm, as if "Driver & Passenger Airbags" wasn't bad enough...

"Priced to Sell" in an auction doesn't quite work....

Must be PMT ;)
I have zero patience for your tedium.

If that car's as good as it seems I don't think any BX savvy prospective buyer is going to worry too much about trades descriptions; they'll just stump up the cash and quite a lot of it I imagine. I think that's a 1500 quid car; a couple of grand maybe if there's enthusiastic bidding.

A lovely example, not enough detail of service history and lack of picture may hold back the bidding.

I see that the seller has now added extra photo's (Which I've added to the OP) however looking at the top of the 'A' post screen pillar's look rather worrying and shall need urgent attention by having the windscreen removed (Which has gone all 'milky' in any case) to treat the rust correctly (or possibly even rot), so IMHO this will hold the price down to a more realistic level having to budget for the afore mentioned work :(

I have now added the photo's as you can see it has some rust patches above the window screen,, there is a scrape on the bumper, and a small dent in the passengers door, apart from that you have a very respectable car for it age. there has never been any smokers in the car and it is very very clean inside.

Just to clarify there is no immobiliser, as the father in law just uses the key how ever the fob is present. The suspension works as should do and the camb belt was changed by Duff Morgan at 83,856 miles.

Due to the updated photo's and description any bidders wish to withdraw their bid they may do so, I have been honest as I can be?

Any person wishing to test drive the car, must do before auctions ends ( also they must provide D/L and insurance). The car insurance runs out on 17th of This month at 0600. so must be collect before then or the purchaser must have their own insurance for the car.

History of the vehicle: the only paperwork that my Father in Law has: the fully service history book with every stamp, which has been by the Citroen dealership Duff Morgan. all tax disc's , and the last two mot's. My father in law unfortunately, does not know where the rest are?
At least the seller is being honest enough and has even stated that any bidder may withdraw the bid if their not happy with the additional info added to the listing !

Good luck to who ever gets it !

Tim Leech previously wrote:personally I wold pay a bit more for that car its got 1 owner and lovely mileage

Just goes to show that mileage isn't everything...it looks worse than mine was and that had rusted through :( Sure, there's a better chance it's a good 'un, but by no means a dead cert.

I've never fully understood why a one owner car has such a premium attached to it - there's no guarantee that they've looked after it better than a series of owners have. I suppose if you get to meet them you can make a judgement about the kind of life the car's had.

Hi guys, anyone got any idea how much you would be talking to sort that rust out above the windscreen?

The screen would need to come out and the replaced as its pointless putting the old one back in, so the price of a screen plus a couple of hundred quid to sort the rust out of you have it fine professionally.

I'd think Tims WTF would be a WAY better option than this , top money but the best IMO . I didn't think much to the Tzd I had years ago , it was ok but much prefered the Td engined Zx .

It still might be a good car to go for, especially if you could do the work yourself - look at the feverish excitement that it caused when it was just one picture - values of £1.5k to £2k were suggested. Now it's under £700 and if it stays that way it could be a good earner for someone if they can bring it up to the expected condition for the mileage.

Personally, if it was for me as a keeper I'd be concerned that the mileage is made up of a lot of short trips, but it may be that it was just used for a reasonable journey every week or two. The other thing to consider that a higher mileage car may have had more items replaced - with this one we don't know what's been done unless the service history is found!

That bit over the screen looks worse than Timex!

A quick check on the net pulls up screens fitted from £80 depending on tint, so for around £300 that particular repair can be sorted - less if you do some of it yourself. IF that's all that's needed it's not bad value at the current price.

I agree 1 owner cars are no guarantee. My 73 Dyane was in the same family until I bought it, and has a folder full of receipts etc. But it's a complete shed that makes Timex look good. The 14 I owned had been through several owners, had virtually no history other than a couple of MOT's, but was in many ways one of the best cars I've ever owned!
