Rustfree Low Miles GT, with lots of spares (be quick)

Post by Tim Leech »

Ive been in touch with a chap who has a Mk1 GT that has been hauled up in a lock-up for a while, 60k miles, rust free (im told)and in exceptional condition.

A rare find indeed, it needs recomissioning and at £950 its not cheap BUT, if you were wanted a Mk1 to cherish nows your chance!

The car is in Taunton and I have contact details:

Here is part of the email, I have pictures which I will upload later.

It is TOTALLY RUST FREE and is in amazing structural and cosmetic condition. It is very dusty from (dry) storage and will require light recommissioning but i will be supplying a huge quantity of brand new genuine and very rare parts to go with it (which i will not split i’m afraid), including:

4ALMOST BRAND NEW AVON TYRES (MATCHING SET)

COMPLETE SET OF GENUINE CITROEN SPHERES

COMPLETE SET OF BRAKE DISCS AND PADS

COMPLETE SET OF BRAND NEW FRONT AND REAR LIGHTS..INCLUDING FRONT SIDE LIGHTS AND HEADLAMPS

BRAND NEW FRONT WIND DEFLECTORS

BRAND NEW GENUINE VELOUR FLOOR MATS

BRAND NEW GENUINE SERVICE AND PAINT PARTS

PAIR BRAND NEW GENUINE REAR PLEXIGLASS THREE QUARTER WINDOWS (THESE ARE NOW TOTALLY UNOBTAINABLE AND I HAVE BEEN OFFERED £200 FOR THEM ALONE!!)

There is MUCH else besides.

The car was Dinitrolled from new and is good underneath as on top. If you think of any normal BX rust spot then forget it..this car is perfect there and everywhere else!

There are no known mechanical issues (other than a very slight blow from the exhaust manifold joint) and the mileage is genuine.
Paintwork is all original and genuinely excellent with no lacquer or other problems. There is one tiny parking dent each side that i can detect but that is it.

Pictures & does it have an MOT? Without one, no chance at that price, you'd have to be mad as it could have a failure list as long as your arm & cost you as much again to get roadworthy.

So thats my negative thoughts out of the way, it does sound very intriguing though :D

No MOT but a total rust free shell Dinitrolled from new is a massive premium & will increase the lifespan of this vehicle for how many years without any major bodywork expenditure?

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod... That is only 20 miles away from me. Aargh! Look at the colour, it's beautiful.

I'm just going to calm down, and then ring my partner, and BEG.

Tom, you need a garage for this one as its too nice as a daily hack in my opinion, and someone who can wield Citroen spanners.

I've got a garage, it just needs emptying. That job we are going to do this summer. And quite right, it would not be a daily - but a cherished keeper.

Still negotiating.

That does look lovely but I can't help wondering about the pipes - being low to the ground for so long these must have picked up some corrosion unless they've been rust proofed too or replaced with the cupro nickel ones at some point... that garage looks like the type of space my valver has been in for about the same length of time and her pipes aren't pretty :?

If the bodywork is as good as it looks, a front to rear re-pipe and an octopus would be worthwhile if required.

That car is probably good enough to be rented to Film and TV shows to add period car realism.
