Information for the NEC
We had a bit of brainstorming last night at Chez Leech once we had been fed and watered and one idea was put some facts and figures on the stand about the BX...Did you know kinda thing
Any suggestions would be good such as...
Diesel Tow Car of the year 3 years running
Best Selling Diesel in the UK etc
First Mainstreem production car to use GRP body panels?

Re: Information for the NEC
16v had the first mass-produced multivalve French engine.
16v had a better specific output when it was launched than any other mass-produced sub 2000cc 4-pot, @ 84.4bhp/litre (though double check that, as Honda's B16A wasn't launched long after).
Can't think of any general BX ones at the mo!

I have a (very tatty) copy of that very magazine! Something like 30-odd records were broken by the BX and CX IIRC.

Was the TD the world's fastest production diesel car ever ?
Difficult to believe when modern 2 litre diesels produce 400 of torque. Imagine that in a BX !!

Only if you go on the average speed record, and the only reason it got that was because no one else bothered to try. Clever marketing really.Jaba wrote:Was the TD the world's fastest production diesel car ever ?

BX isn't actually all that great for "did you know" type stuff. The AX or CX on the other hand.....

Nice. But I think on a BX stand we probably need to be a bit more assertive and maybe blow our own trumpet a bit more?Kitch wrote: BX isn't actually all that great for "did you know" type stuff. The AX or CX on the other hand.....

Don't get bent out of shape over it! If you look up a couple of posts you'll see that I've already made a couple of suggestions towards it. I'm not saying we shouldn't do that, I'm saying the best wasn't exactly a car of firsts, or interesting factoids for other people.Paul296 wrote:Nice. Thought of a couple more though:
Couldn mention some cars were fitted with a second fuel tank to improve range.
16v uses a productionised version of the head fitted to the 205 T16 group b rally car.
I thought of some more but I'm sat on the bog about to get in the shower and my phone's getting steamed up!

Re: Information for the NEC
I used to run a Porsche in the late 80s. While driving on a French autoroute a BX TD came past me. Feeling bored I nipped back past the BX doing over 100.
Then the BX caught up and stuck on my tail for ages until I had to go up to 115 to get rid of him.
I remember looking up the stats at the time to see that the BX TD was the fastest diesel car around at that time.
This must have been my BX epiphany as 5 years later I bought my first GTi.
