Another repair.

Wheelybin now keeps its coolant inside it. This means it has cheated the scrapman which was touch and go for a week or two. The clutch is not good and the next job to have done so today I replaced the bumper trims, touched up quite a lot of paint and researched removing the dashboard in order to replace the heater matrix, a job I last did in 2004.

That’s a bit of a waste! What else is wrong with the car? Surely there are parts off the car that are at least worth saving? If you give it to the scrap man, everything will be lost.
1992 Citroën BX 1.9 Diesel Meteor 4x4 - The Project.

1992 Citroën BX 1.9 TXD (with GTI engine; Mulleys old car) - Parts car.

2004 Citroën Xsara Desire. (Now gone).

2016 Ford Focus Zetec - Daily Driver. (Absolute bone shaker).

In the last week, it has needed a head, heater matrix and a clutch. I don't have time to deal with it or to wait while people come and pick over it.. I am not a scrapman.I do, however have a rational approach to old cars. The world is full of them. Some are not worth the effort and this one is one of them so having paid for new tyres, spheres, head and skim, gaskets, bolts, a heater matrix and a clutch, I have decided that even if I were to do the work, it would not make the car either reliable or enjoyable so it is time to cut my losses and move on. I put bits up for sale and if they don't find a buyer this week, I shall junk them too.. My circumstances happily do not allow me the luxury of hanging on to them as I am moving abroad in four weeks' time. The BX, which was to have been used to move things has become a frustrating encumbrance, soaking up money and time whilst providing no utility. Good riddance to it.

Well, that's it, it has gone. Once the head gasket has failed on the 1.9 Diesel, I have never known one last for long.

[-X Or you could have offered it for sale to someone else, or at least parts of it, "cutting off ones nose to spite your face" springs to mind and seems at polar opposites to what enthusiasts do.

Scrapping it seems madness to me! :?
