maybe it would be a good test if the "high bidder" were on here it apparently sold for £290 i would have thought a turbo D at that price would have had some interest on here. Surely we arent expecting bxs to sell for £100 anymore.

At the same time though, it does have lots of "gaps". Comparing to the 200k estate that sold for £900 the other day; this is not an estate, doesn't have aircon, not scratchless, doesn't have original wheels, has been "pimped", and has numerous mechanical niggles in the description. Also I imagine red/pink isn't too popular a colour.

Blimey you lot are defeatist its a bx turbo D taxed and tested for the price of a set of tyres . numerous mechanical niggles???? it needs a set of rear discs and pads and the sun roof unsealing. You cant help squeeze the throttle on the turbo D and smile they really do take off at 2500 rpm and they do fly and all this for 300 what else are you going to buy thats as much fun.
Instead of criticising cars that come up for sale buy them use them enjoy them.

It seems sadly the ebay system is being abused on this sale and so i have backed out of it. The current winning bidder has a feedback of 12 and 0% positive and coincidentally only has 2 lots of recent bid activity both on this car 1 the last time it was "sold" and again this time I hope for Richards sake that it is a genuine buyer but I honestly suspect not

Its a tricky thing to buy a car via ebay at the best of times. Irregularities of any kind will inevitably raise concern, more so than normal. We got our BX via ebay 200 miles from home (Bristol) on the strength of just a few conversations an some pictures. Fortunately everything was as stated - a good condition low mileage diesel for £720, lucky I guess. That doesnt mean we or any buyer isnt going to walk away if a car isnt 'as advertised' but its not something anyone would want to do.

With this one there's a suggestion that the seller may be bidding to hike the price and your findings might support that. On the face of it it looks a decent car but i'd trust the comments of people here, who dont appear have any kind of axe to grind.

The thing with ebay, as I have found out in the past and been stung more than once myself, is that its faceless, the worst that happens if you behave like a crook (im not saying anyone is by the way) is that ebay close your account, so you set up another one/get someone to set up one for you and away you go again. They are so big, that one or two disgruntled customers is a tiny percentage of their client base.

I always read sellers feedback and bidding history before I bid.

I bought my TGD estate on Ebay, but actually went and looked at it to get a feel for both car and seller. Doesn't work for distance purchases, but that's the risk isn't it?

My take on it, which again is just my opinion of course, is that it appears the cars are "bid up" by someone he knows, or indeed himself with another ebay account, and then if they dont sell to a genuine buyer (and he/they are the highest bidder) they get relisted and it starts all over again. Its hardly rare on ebay sadly!
Tim, (And ALL the rest of the BXC fold) !

Please note !

Richard (richardd1652) won't be bidding up his E-Bay listings anymore in the same name as on this BXC forum as the very high almost 100% feedback of 323 is stating hes 'No longer a registered user' .

This can be seen thro' all the feedback of 'triunphtr7man' (Second feedback up from the bottom of the list) where he sold a car to him self (richardd1652) and even left himself some positive feedback

Well there you have it guy's !

Its all in the feedback, as Tim has pointed out it's always best to do a bit of research into someones feedback/history to try and get a feel if your dealing with a genuine seller !

As the saying goes 'Buy with haste, repent at leisure', so Richard if you do see/read this (Or it gets back to you) sorry, but sometimes the truth hurts when you get exposed just like some politicians and newspaper editor's of late !

It is a shame these things happens, I am in no way out to linch anyone, especially someone that obviously DOES have a love for the BX and has saved a few cars but having met the chap a couple of times and found him to be enthusiastic but a bit "shady" as they say!.

I have bought many cars off ebay and usually found most sellers to be honest only ever bought one really bad car . I usually find the ones to steer clear are the ones have had lots of work done recently be the seller these tend to be the bodge it and scarper repairs the best cars to buy are the untouched ones with jobs that need doing.

I still thing Richards BX TGD is a good buy I just object to the underhand way it is being sold. I am sure it will turn up for sale again

Well the bidder with a score of 21 and zero positive feedback won it at £536.26
Ive got to say if it was a fake bidder to push the price up it was a fair way past it market value

I imagine it may reappear for sale again soon! I dont think at that money it was expensive to be honest.

it's worth £180 just to drive it onto a weighbridge, dismantle it for parts and that'd be over £500. Let's face it, a working 19.TD engine must be worth more than the cost of some cars we all own.

I'd be careful of accusing anyone of shill bidding but if you think it is going on, then do contact ebay. They can see the IP addresses of computers, bidders and watchers and it is perfectly possible for them to cross reference bidder and seller.

Personally, I despise shill bidding - it's just greed and it's immoral.
