now finished all issues sorted, booked in for mot next week, front bumper was a last minute paint job from halfrauds with all their cans of ven red the grill is all cracked, i have another much nicer bumper which will be painted and fitted in due course.

H963AAE was brought for £200 off the bay with all the parts supplied to repair the front end damage, you may have seen the posts, few issues with various air leaks, injector wiring loom probs, faulty temp sender, gummed up throttle bOdy, now all sorted and running sweet as.. had a good look underneath nothing of any concern, rust free no signs of any pending leaks, seems its been well looked after by previous 2 owners, with the paintwork being very good with no fading or cracking of the lacquers, total cost of two days welding on the new front end, and prob £50 on the few bits i had to get, has only done 88 miles since its last mot so cant forsee anything major being needed fingers crossed.

cheers for that wheeltrim tip tim, but i think geoff capes of previous bx work will be needed to remove them, they are extremely tight on the rims, i will be removing them throughout the winter anyway as they are almost new with just a small scrape on the o/s/f trim, but i will heed your advice and get some clear cable ties for refitting time.

ive just looked on howmanyleft.com and there are only 22 BX GTI 8V on the road now and about the same amount sorn, seems still to be a few more tzd turbo tho up in the 140's and the tgd 1.9 in the 60's, i really didnt realize how low the figures actually are when compared to say the mgb gt near 8000 otr, makes me think my little trio of bx's can only appreciate and be enjoyed as i wont be selling any of them in the near future, surely its only a matter of a few more years and bx's will be quite desirable not claimig DS status but prob not far behind. your thoughts?

The trim carriers don't come off but the metal clips that hold the trim to the carrier degrade and part company.

Cracking job done there bud, well done. You must feel proud of owning such a motor, especially as you brought it back from deaths door.

Impressed!!
