In need of a transfer Box mount

Post by RMS_TITANIC »

Hi, I'm in need of a new rubber mount as mine has perished completely, you can see the bit I'm after in this image hanging down to the left of the brick that supports the transfer box, it has 2 holes. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Best of luck with that, may be worth looking at the Peugeot 405 4x4 poss the same?
Consider having the bracket refabricated using A. N. other Bush?
Chevronics in Hitchin may be worth a shot.
Wasn't there a rotten 4x4 being broken not so long back?

Let us know if you manage to source one of these. Mine is missing completely. I don't know if it's needed though as it's got the lower engine mount on the other side.

Hi, ended up making one from a thick bit of rubber we had laying around, just drilled it then hammered in the 2 metel tubes that the bolts go through. It fits fine but we'll have to wait til its on the road to see if it lasts more than 5 minutes.

I'm not even sure wot this mount looks like but fair play for recycling, I've done a fair few Heath Robinson fixes in the past of which many outlasted the car.

See above for my artistic rendering of what the mount is supposed to approximately look like :)

Doesn't look too technical, I'm sure a visit to a local breakers yard would prove fruitful, there's enough 4wd out there surely something could be adapted, maybe.

A hanger mount like that often has a ring of webbing around the periphery so that the rubber is always acting in compression, rather than extension. That makes it much less likely to fail,
