You can jack the rear up and put some wood between the bump stops and the rear suspension arms to get the ground clearance to load it on a trailer.

Just out of interest, has anyone ever done this, using XM or Xantia as donor?

The easier dropin is a 1.9TD from a 405 or ZX. Several people have done it very successfully. It entails just a camshaft change as far as I remember....
