Wheel Choice

Post by mat_fenwick » Mon Aug 19, 2013 12:51 pm

I'm considering a wheel swap but am having real trouble making up my mind whether to or not! I've got a slight preference for the P1 wheels I think, but the P2 ones look pretty good too. I'm almost considering tossing a coin to decide, but thought I would get other's opinions...

OMG, a poll ... there's no stopping him now, I've created a MONSTER.

Ph 2 IMO. Oh go on then, I'll click the button as well.

Depends on what colour, personally I think the grey wheel doesnt suit darker colours asides grey and black as they are not contrasty (is that a word)...I think Triton Green looks much better with silver but a silver car looks awesome with the two tone wheels as did my olympic blue TRS.

I think the anthracite wheels can look good, but they're very fussy about what colour car you put them with. Red car: silver wheels IMHO.

P.S. And those door surrounds need a lick of paint! :D

Looking at the two photo's the anthracite wheels appear to give the car a sleeker and more sporty appearance. The grey makes it look more of a plodder.

Trying to understand why the anthracite looks better, I think it's the effect of the silver circles around the dark centres. 8)

I think the darker wheels can look great no matter the colour of the car, but only if they're properly refurbished and lacquered so that the outer silver really shines. Then you get a good contrast with the darker inner.

But if we're talking non-refurbished (as in the photos) then I'd go for the silver wheels...

The darker wheels in the picture are actually just a quick Photoshop job! And they would be unlikely to get refurbished so silver may look better…but balance that out by the fact that darker wheels would hide brake dust more effectively ;)

Well you have about 3 months to the NEC so we will have no talk of hiding anything....

I shall be there with my white gloves and clipboard on the Friday inspecting the cars! [-X

No, silver on the front, anthracite on the rear. You know it makes sense

EDIT: Darn, beaten to it. Bloody work, getting in the way of witty* remarks to the forum.

So do I, I think it works very well with the two tone bumpers and thicker rubbing strips.

Let's have a look then - bare in mind that if they're not the correct factory fit trims for model and year, you will be beaten around the head with a baseball bat. :D
