Thanks Kitch, but getting it to me could be an issue, the original has come up like new today after I doused it in alloy wheel cleaner and power washed the f*ck out of it!

Did the original seats get binned?

I believe they did. The fronts were really grubby.

No worries, the tweed has cleaned up surprisngly well. but the drivers squab is worn out.

I will be getting a herringone interior for it when time/funds allow.

if anyone has any NEW front indicators cheap they want to sell let me know.

Cheers!

Process is slow thanks to something called Christmas, I hate shopping!

Still all the parts I need are now all here.

The new door and wings are suitable wax oiled and fitted but disappointingly the wings look a different shade... Maybe after a good valet the difference will be less apparent.

The tweed interior is out and the herringbone is slowly drying out after a good wash so will be fitted this weekend. I aim to try and swop the backrest over to a seat frame I have eith tilt adjustment as I find it supports my legs better send doesn't give me backache.

Also now the gears are sorted and the inside resembles a car not a skip I would like to drive it!!

Interiors in, it looks alot better, front end looks swish with new lamps and plates, and a bumper that fits.

Been quoted £180 for a clutch change which isnt bad but its £180 I just dont have right now (we have a holiday to pay for)

Bringing it in next week to get that wishbone bush sorted and have a poke underneath!

You'll need to get some progress pictures up Tim

Also when fitting new headlamps, I know they just pop on and off of the ball joints but do you need to realign the beam afterwards ?

If I remember correctly the lamps are aligned as the ball joints are on the end of the adjustable screw part. Might be very small variation but only if different manufacturer. I've only put Valeo ones in before now.

I will need to align the lamps on the beam setter as I have straightened the front panel a bit more and wound the headlamps out a bit so they look level (the drivers side sat a good half inch further back than the passenger side, probably due to being driven into a freelander!). #

I have lined them up as best I can for now. The new headlamp was a Lucas, as a Valeo one was not available for sensible money but they are visually idenical.

I have a pair of new Lucas ones to fit which will replace the Valeo ones already fitted but was afraid of throwing the beams out of line, should the headlights sit flush with the nose of the bonnet as mine sit a bit further back ?

If you just pull off the old one and push on the new it shouldnt upset the beam pattern. You find the adjusters normally need a spanner on them to get them to move anyway.

Interiors clean, passenger window now works as does all the central locking, dash bulbs (inc the cigar lighter!!) and all 4 speakers are happy with Radio 2.

However the rather shonky weld-repair on the drivers hinge is letting go quickly so I will await Shauns answer before I go far in it!

Its currently in the Garage with all the windows down trying to dry it out.

Nice and dry inside now, brought it out the garage this morning to take into work to get that bush done, went to plug in the seatbelt (I wont drive without one) and BUGGER! the new seats have a different buckle to the old ones (thankfully they are in the loft). So I parked it back up and used the Golf.

Ill rebook for next week once I have swopped the stalks over. Damn!
