BX 16E wiring and piping

Post by xjs36uk »

Just putting this out there to anyone with definitive knowledge.

On the front of the injection manifold, 1600 single point injector (what would be the carb on a normal 1600) there is a single wire with a single blue connector coming from just above the MAP sensor pipe. Anyone know what this is and where it should go?

Also same area, next to the front manifold coolant pipe (below MAP sensor pipe) I have a second pipe which has been cut and blocked off, Any Ideas???

and finally I have two white pipes coming from the LHM reservoir cap, one goes forward and is connected, but the second goes backwards towards the front suspension and is not connected, any info?

I cannot find anything to attach any of the above to.

The car is LHD, 1991, 1600cc Single point Injection with Catalytic Converter, Manual, PAS, No ABS. One owner from new and no known modifications.

Haynes is useless.

This model with single point injection was never sold here , hence the lack of info so I cannot help you there.
The plastic pipes atop the LHM tank are as they should be as the rear facing one is just an air vent.

Thanks Jaba, was sort of thinking that myself as I'd also never come across one in the UK either, so must have just been an EU thing. But the question still stands if anyone would know.
I'm sort of speculating that the manifold may be generic for the 1600 and that maybe the bits I've mentioned are there for carburated versions. As it has long been common practise for Citroen to use generic parts as a means to keep costs down. (I remember my old CX20RE which had every electric connector for every model, from diesel to turbo 2, just hanging in the breeze).

LHM vent noted and thankyou for that, I'll sleep better knowing that.

The 1.6i was the only UK 1.6 petrol version of the injection model AFAIK and started in either very, very late 91 or early 92. There is at least one owner of the 1.6i on this Forum so may be able to help, as he has a grey one in the Northampton area I believe. My 1.6 Auto is Aug 91 J plate and still carb, engine type XU52C. The i version lost a few Hp... about 12...

No reason for it to be different than a slightly earlier 'Euro' model. Suspension on most is pretty universal except the Octopus change but the two 'white' pipes from the Y junction are I believe identical to most so almost any model would help, though Jaba is correct on your specific question.
