Moving the hydraulic reservoir!

Post by Photeauart »

In a couple of months I am having the offside inner wing tidied up. There is a little de-lamination on the joint and my welder man has asked me to move the LHM reservoir out of the way the way. Some wiring too but not overly worried about that. Q? Can I just slide the reservoir sideways for access or do I have to do more than that? Can't see anything helpful in Haynes. Many thanks for any advice. Best regards, Phil

Just remove the cap in the top which all the hoses go into/out of and tuck it out of the way (bagged up ideally). Then gingerly lift the reservoir out and empty it. Pretty easy.

As per Kitch's reply , just remove the complete lid with all pipes and filter intact and bag them up as you remove them to prevent any contamination and move over onto the top of the engine, then take the complete tank off with the fluid intact and carefully bag that up too and put somewhere safe.

As they say and show in the photos, while its out it worth cleaning the filters and even filtering the oil to help clean it before butting it all back in. I use coffee papers filters to do this.
It will take a little time to get the car back in air after taking it out.

We have forgot to tell you the default LHM tank warning: Be careful of the tank lip , they have very sharp edges that were never de-burred properly at the factory.

Might this be a good time to switch to Total Hydraurincage instead of LHM for a few thousand miles?
