I presume these have a higher final ratio than my gti ,if so I need one cheers brian

It's quite common to fit a 5th gear set from a turbo diesel to a GTi it does bring the rpm's down from approx 3000rpm at 70mph to around 2850 and it's the easiest to change only requiring the end cover to come off the gearbox, can be done with gearbox in situ
I have a few turbo diesel gearboxes available if you need one.

Actually the TD 5th gear swap in works best on the 16v GTi as its a bit too high for the 8v GTi. For an 8v GTi you need 5th gears from a 16 or 19 petrol car's gearbox as far as I remember when I did mine.
I don't have the exact ratios to look for at the moment as I am away from home.

I have posted fully about this in the past and this should be locatable using the forum search or google search.
