Repairing suspension pipes

Post by Kieron g »

Could someone advise if it is considered good or acceptable practice to replace a section of a suspension pipe please.
I notice there is a kit specifically for this purpose for sale on the Internet.
I have a pin hole or small split in the pipe from the height corrector to the o/s/f suspension unit as pipe runs along what looks like a front cross member near the height corrector itself.
It is quite well tucked away and seems an unusual place to corrode, the rest of the pipe looks ok.
Thanks

Personally, I’d recommend replacing the whole pipe that’s burst, as if it’s corroded in one place, then it could’ve gone somewhere else too.

Also, the Citroen hydraulic lines are a different size & have different fittings/ ends on them than standard brake pipes. If you’ve found a common brake pipe join & flaring tool, then it won’t work on the Citroen pipes.

All that being said, however, if the rest of the pipe looks alright & you get the correct unions, connectors, seals & Citroen flaring tool, then there’s no reason why you can’t just put a join in it, the same way as on a standard brake pipe, but, as mentioned above, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for reply. I'll take the full pipe off and see about getting another made up.
