I'm sure this car would make a nice car for someone, but I think he's a bit optimistic with the starting price.
Some times you have to put a high price on something in order to find the right home for it. But in this case I think he's just wasting his time and money.

They think it's all over, it is now!

1124cc XW engine, at something like about 50hp. my word that must have been a slow car!mnde wrote:Ah, what about the fabled BX11?

Just as a matter of interest, if anyone does have a BX14 with the XY engine, it's entirely possible to pull the carbs from a 1360cc Talbot samba S/ pug 104 S/ pug 205xs etc to give 79hp instead of the standard 72hp.
this might be a signature

Hey heyNope. The simca engine was a family of 4 engines, 1118cc, 1294cc, 1442cc and 1598cc. They were as rattly as hell, and fairly unrefined. Fitted to Simca 1100 series cars, Horizons (I had 7 Horizons!!) alpine/solara, rancho early Pug 309 (Talbot Arizona) and the matra murena. This series of engines had a "proper" gearbox.
I know I bang on about this car a lot... but I drove a 1986 Pug 309 for a good ten years - and was a passenger in it for another 5 before I passed my test!
I used to think all engines sounded like that. And then I learned to sneer at engines that had cambelts - chains never die
I really learned to live by those feelings when I owned a CX - 1930s engine in a 1970s car in the 2000s.... hmmmmmmm.!!!
