If you look round the forum you will find plenty of stuff about it, Richard is a chap/car dealer from Yorkshire, who collects BX's, and theres nothing wrong with that. BUT if a BX comes on the forum/ebay for sale etc he snaps it up before anyone else get ths opportunity and has "jumped the que" a few times too.PhilGreaves wrote:I hate to ask a stupid question but am i missing something? The cars in question then normally get tarted up, and sold on again for a higher price soon after on ebay without being offered to the forum. I doubt he makes any money but even so its the way its done which is a but underhand!. Also there is some questions about the authenticity of bidders on ebay after the cars reappeare very soon afterwards!.
Not really fair when a genuine enthusiast who hasnt got a BX is after one and he already has about 10 in variou states of repair. best to just stick on one and get that sorted.

It's not specifically anti anyone it's just disbelief about caddish behaviour. We are a losely organised group but there has always been a sort of honour, and a transparancy to aquiring/buying/selling BXs here.
Lurk in the shadows here , hide your face and pick up the for sale ads then act in a covert manner like a low budget Murdoch. I don't believe it's the behaviour of an 'enthusiast' of anything apart from perhaps mental health problems

Buying to save from the crusher is a noble, but I fear this car wont be offered for sale on here when the time comes for it to "move on". But to the highest bidder.Matt H wrote:I actually visited that yard about 2 weeks ago, and I drive right past it on my way home from work, and had I got there first, I probably would have bought it. But... only to sell on. To stop it from being destroyed. I have enough cars as it is, as I'm sure many of us do.

So be it... I'd rather that, than what happened to the last car I wanted to buy from there. An Opel Kadette 1.3s. It had a few valuable and extremely rare parts taken off, and it was stacked on top of another car. Turned a viable project into something that was destined for the crusher - At least this GT will be spared that fate.
Who else was actually going to go there and put down cold hard cash for it. £500 to be exact. Some people on here resent paying £200 for one that has tax and test. As it stands it isn't realistically worth that. Who would actually pay that? If you offered that car on here for £500 you'd be laughed at. It would be another "scrap value only" BX.

/\ how much does he pay you to do his press?
This GT - from first impressions - is not a 200 quid nail it does actually seem to be worth the 500 asking price.
The issue here is whether someone has got a spine or not and not really how much tin they've accumulated.

I dunno - if it's just a case of tarting it up a bit and the engine is good and the mileage is genuine I reckon it could be worth a grand easy. The point is there's not many about and there is a huge kudos to having the earlier model and what's a few hundred quid here and there if it fulfils someone's dream?
Richard is just fulfilling the liberal economic dream I guess. It can get to be a bit of an obsession, 'desire' and makes people do some funny things. I can't believe he's not making money out of it. I seem to remember he gazzumped me on one but I double-gazzumped him by persuading the seller to sell it to someone else
I guess the feeling is one of terror that you might be missing out on something. Either that or mental.

Hi Matt -I see. I thought someone said Tod's red Berline was a Mk1 but I may have got crossed with a conversation about the yellow Break. Phew.mat_fenwick wrote:Mark 1s all had little orange indicators, Mark 2s all had the clear larger ones. For the 16v (always a Mk2) there was a Phase 1 (silver wheels, black splitter on front bumper) and a Phase 2 (dark grey wheels, one piece moulded front bumper with splitter). Personally I prefer the looks of the Mk2, both inside and out but I am in a minority I think. Although I will admit the Mk1 dashboard is cool!scarecrow wrote:to my mind a phase I should have little indicators... I think Todd has a phase I that looks like a phase II with the bigger indicators.
Little indicators are better and somehow the mk 1s look pointier

I'm not going to comment on this so called 'Richard'... I have never met him, and I don't spend enough time here to even understand when, why or who he has upset.toddao wrote:/\ how much does he pay you to do his press?![]()

I just love BXs and cars in general. Can't be doing with any forum/car club bullshit. People will disagree, dislike each other and fight over anything in life. It's in our nature... It's really quite funny what people get upset about.
You'll be sending him death threats next...
(I'm not kidding, I've heard some horrifying stories about Vauxhall owners clubs in the past)
