Tim, I just spotted the new listing, so I quickly resurrected the old thread (So that no-one started a new one) and then went back to the listing to read thro' the listing thoroughly, so I was about to post the same as you !

Here we have for sale my Citroen BX 1991.

MOT ran out on the 22nd April.

Drives well, suspension works fine (as you can see from the last two pictures - one up on the suspension, one down) The clutch will need some work on it, I have recently changed the clutch cable however I think it might need a new clutch in the near future. (Also comes with a new spare clutch cable)

Sometimes when I have been driving it the engine gains an extra power boost without accelerating, normally happens around 2.5K revs think it maybe something to do with the turbo being removed. Also if you turn hard left the power can drop off, think this is due to someone before me replacing the primer pump filter housing with one that appears to be from a JCB.

There are some oily marks under the car. Nice and tidy interior, (apart from the ashtray/coin holder is broken) few marks on the bodywork as you would expect from a car of this age.

Comes with a tow bar fitted.

Well ive contacted the seller i can have a look at it if you like.
He said that hes bought it 6 months ago. Used it has a runner now and again.
He aslo said the bloke who he bought it off said about having the turbo removed.

Paul, its always had a 1.9D N/A engine fitted as standard from new and never was a Turbo model

It might balance it out a bit but not enough to iron out an extra 20 odd bhp I wouldn't have thought.

All I'm saying is the reason why diesels have turbos is to make them faster. Someone else might be able to quote the figures, but the rule of thumb is that a turbo engine pushes out more power more quickly, so it's going to be quicker than a similar-sized N/A engine. As the BX is comparable in size and weight to the Xantia, it's logical to assume the Xantia's going to be quicker.

Unless it's that low pressure turbo Xantia (SD?) I think it was 70 odd bhp from a 1.9 turbo unit, so can only assume the turbo was fitted for emissions/efficiency rather than power! But yes, the 'normal' Xantia TD feels significantly quicker than a NA diesel BX.

Its got quite a bit more torque, that makes a bigger difference than the actual bhp difference imho. Neither are particularly quick tbh & i'd rather have a n/a BX than a xantia, less to go wrong & miles better on fuel.
