Well exactly - its your car, do as you please, if you like it and enjoy it then thats all that matters really.

My mate Bob is nearing the end of a 3 year resto of his very first car ever - a 1937 Morris 8 Tourer, its just come back from the sprayers painted in some BL Ivory colour and it looks the mutts nutts, but the chaps at the Bamber Bridge Morris club are going boo-loo owing to the fact the original colour was green and the colour its been painted is not even a period or morris colour. As bob rightly says - stuff em, its my car when Im dead and gone someone else can repaint it. They [bbmoc] would be even more pissed off if he repainted the bonnet in its checkerboard colourjob it had back in the 60's when he painted it up that way first time round - he may well do that yet

I prefer them to look original but a set of nice alloys and a few tweaks here and there are a good idea. With matt being young the insurance on a valver would be a killer buy if he can make his car look like one but be insurable then I cant fault you for that, I was young once lol

Neither of my 2 bxs are factory standard but could be again if required, but were all different and as long as the car is being cared for (which matts certainly is) then hats off to him.

Also got a towing eye cover coming soon courtesy of Roy Hassell! Can't wait to get it on...

Next step is to find the roundest pair of wheels out of my spare set, and swap them for the awful, impossible to balance, pair on the front of mine. Going off what I've seen, 16v Speedlines are not the strongest wheels out there. It would make perfect sense to stick 15 inch 205 GTi wheels, or some such, just for the much better choice of tyres... but 16v alloys just look so good, I'm willing to live with them.

Other than that, I finally got around to wiring my rev counter in, which was actually surprisingly easy, with a bit of help from the Doc. Also painted the rear wheel arch spats (Whatever they are called) body coloured... which really makes a huge difference to the look of the car.

Lots of stuff still to do... Black dash/carpets, Side Skirts (Simply a matter of waiting for a set to turn up), digital clock, wire in the foglights (Not sure whether to stick with the standard ones or get some aftermarket ones, which would be much easier), chrome exhaust trim, black bumper insert trim, AX GT Twin choke carb/manifold and fit some tweeters in the dash... Just to name a few things. Doing all of this stuff is of course limited by time, and money, so we'll see where I am in six months.

As for the Morris, got to agree. There's a Morris Minor on a pre-63 plate running around here. Elderly gent driving it, silver hair and moustache. The car has red, yellow, white, blue and green panels - not a Morris standard colour scheme but...it 's his car and if that's what floats his boat!!!

Actually, usually look forward to seeing it around, there's few enough Minors around here, and one day I'll buy one for Kathryn. That should slow her down a bit.

The guy in the Minor always gives us a hearty wave as we pass him, probably because we smile so approvingly of his colour scheme

Mat, that would be great cheers. I think out of all the BX detritus I've collected over the years, I've never had a fog light switch. I do have a fully functioning one touch window switch in my car though

My Brand new, out of the box, genuine Citroen 16v Towing eye cover turned up today, and should be painted and on the car by the end of tomorrow... Expect more pics!

Of course I can... I keep forgetting that Stratford is only 2 weeks away now.

I'd better hurry up and get my car looking presentable again, also a few little bits that need finishing...

Rub-down and polish front bumper, refit the bits of trim from the rear bumper...



...not to mention a quick clean inside and out.

Here is a picture of the front end with the towing eye cover fitted... Unfortunately I took the picture in such a way that you can't actually see it. Oh well.

Unfortunately, My dad will be out of the country over that entire weekend, doing the Czech Wrecks Banger rally. Shame 'cause he could have brought his AX GT along.
