I don't believe gold was a colour option on mk2's in the UK, abroad possibly (Tim, am i right?).
It'll be interesting to see when it turns up, i'm most intrigued to know why an old diesel was on the list of cars, lets hope its got nothing to do with TopGear as well all know what happens to cars that end up on that programme
Shame its gone Ian, but needs must & you can always buy another much cheaper one if you start getting withdrawall symptoms You're always welcome to pop over, you never know my turbo d might be on the road next year, i'll let you have a blat

Matthew as Tim is probably neutralising his new abode (From PINK)
I'll step in !
Surely your not admitting to never seeing a 'Champagne' - (Gold), coloured Athena BX (Which was a colour choice and a 'MK2')
Paul296 wrote:It wasn't 'Champagne' you idiot - it was 'Sable Phonicien'!.
Oo la la!
But that is a LHD as Mulley said.

Morning chaps, havent moved yet (this weekend), although the previous owner has indeed "neutralised it" back to a more acceptable magnolia, the only model available in any kind of gold was indeed the Champagne on the Athena (millesime on the continent), which is a shame as it really suits the car imo.

I wouldn't call that champagne colour gold tbh, when i think of gold i'm thinking of a bright metalic colour such as that nice mk1 owned by one of our forum members

Its gone to be used in the film industry and I've been assured it wont be cut up. It will however be repainted. Bottom line is that there's no way I'd have got anything like the price I did through a private sale.
My last sight of it until I see it on TV!
....................................................
Its quite likely to be for sale after filming is finished so don't be surprised to see it back on ebay!
Oh dear (If it is)
However they paid Ian a good price, so its theirs to do what they please with it !
I wonder it the body shop still have the front splitter off it, as its not fitted to the one in /\ clip ?
If someone is sitting in the engine bay like that then its deffo a non runner now which is a shame.
With what they have done to the rear door too kinda spoils it a bit.
I bet you they scrap it as its going to take a whole heap of work to get it back to normal. Colour is nice though. Why couldnt they have done this to an Allegro or Maestro instead?
I hope that's not Fearnys car! Why would you spend a load on a top notch BX TD when an old scrapper could've been used and tarted up to the same effect?
You can hear the engine running in the start of the advert, to the guys on the advert its just a "prop" and I expect when its been used will be thrown away/scrapped.
You can see the roofs been chopped about as has the rear quarter, I expect they filmed the first scene with the car running (albeit with the suspension on low as its bouncing) then took the car away, cut it about and did the rest.
Either way that car wont see the road again, and it has to be Ians Car.
Did anyone notice the the casino wheel has a Michelin MXL tyre fitted to it!
Sad to say when a car is no longer in your posession you have no control over what happens to it! Ian got a very good price for it, but to the tv crew it would have been peanuts really.
toddao wrote:What a surreal fate. Who'd have seen that coming? Yes, they should have used a banger but I suppose to 'them' every BX is probably a banger.

Inspector Clouseau!
Perhaps it's the original spare?
That was my thoughts! Ive heard from Ian Fearne, it definatly was car and he was aware of what was to be come of it when he sold it, so enough said really.
