well at least it didnt end up in a go compare advert and Andy ,
Maestros and allegros are more widely considered classic cars than BX's at the moment ,
that latest Aviva advert makes me want to cry

Prop people dont get teary eyes about cars, bit like banger racers and probably scrap dealers, its just a tool to them.

Youve seen Top Gear....JC etc dont prepare the cars themselves!

Inspector Clouseau! :D

Perhaps it's the original spare?
Todd, that was an easy/instant spot

But did anyone spot the $hite paint job they did to the Semi/matt finish of the front/lower edge of the 'Gullwing' door (N/S/R), I'm sure it wouldn't have left Ian's place with that paint defect on it ?

There's a massive blob/blemish @ 3 seconds in (if you press the stop button) which can be clearly seen

But as Tim confirmed /\ a real sad end to what was one of the nicest TZD's that was still on the road of recent times :(

We could try and be positive. Perhaps Ian's car got used for the initial drive-up scene. I doubt they'd want to break filming while they went and built all the trick bits. Remember that music video where Badly Drawn Boy was driving a piano-powered Dolomite? At least three cars were used for that.

Positive, well I guess it makes the cars left on the road more valuable as theres one less! But it was Ians car to do as he wished, he got offered a price more than anyone on here/eBay would stump up so he took it, which was his decision, would I of done the same if I had known the car would be wrecked?, probably not, but it was a work horse and a daily drive not something that was cossetted like I do mine, but we are all different and thats what makes life interesting!

I was going to say the same. My local friendly specialist was approached by a film company about a CX Cmatic Pallas they'd just bought. It turned out that the company already had a near identical car that they had aquired for a film, but needed another and were struggling to find it. I don't know what they offered for the car, but it was enough for him to do the almost unheard of and sell it on as purchased. When cars get a starring role in a film, it's not unheard of for several cars to be used for the part - think of the 6 2CV's prepared for that James Bond Film, or the 14 cars used for the Ford Anglia in the Harry Potter films.

My dad used to be a driver for a local film company, driving actors to locations and transporting the odd car that had been hired for a film sequence. Time is money when filming, and often they double up with props etc. in order to minimise delays. Hopefully this means that Ian's car lives on and may well be back on the market once they've decided that they've no more use for it. I think it's most likely that Ian's car was bought as an easy, quick way of sorting a vehicle for a mobile shot, while a cheap motor was bought to be cut around for the shot shown here. If so, the car may be up for sale at some point in the future, once they've decided that they have no more use for it. You may even find the one shown above turns up somewhere, as I've seen some odd (and undriveable) prop vehicles turn up for sale over the years.

They must have used two cars for that....unless it's been pushed in the opening scene and then they've ripped the handbrake up!

Does anyone know of a supplier for the back wheel/roulette wheel conversion? I don't remember seeing it in any of the accessory catalogues? Probably 'rare as hens teeth' now anyway?
