posts or search... there's only one way to find out... FIGHT!

Personally I have no problem with a new thread on a car that has been previously mentioned. Especially if it was some time ago.

It's not like bandwisth is such a massive issue that starting a new thread will cause all the internets to burn..

I've been on other forums where some of the MODS go mad if you mention something that's been mentioned before instead of using the search facility with one particular LR forum admin banning people and locking threads for fun. I've never understood this attitude because to me a forum is a friendly place to obtain and share advice not just a reference library but I'm also a bit of a computer numpty so don't understand the complexaties of running a forum; Can too much repeat banter clogg up the forum? Personally I have no problem with repeat topics but do understand the need to point out if there is a CURRENT thread on the same subject running in order to keep things simple and tidy. The excellent MOD/ADMIN team usually step in and link threads if they think it is required. I think Richard may have come across as being a bit blunt in this instance and perhaps caused offence to a new contributor without meaning to. If that new contributor sticks with us he will soon become aware of Richards great tallent as master Librarian of the forum which is IMHO extremely helpfull.

I can't see a problem to the running of the forum if multiple threads on the same subject exist, although it may make it more difficult to search for things in the future if multiple threads on the same subject exist. It may also offend some people if they wish to keep their forum neat and tidy!

It sometimes suggests laziness if a new member posts up a thread about a subject already covered on the same page, as if they haven't bothered to have a quick read. Fortunately that is rare on here.

IMO, the search function in this forum software isn't the greatest, as it won't suggest alternatives to wrongly spelt words, so if someone has a great thread on replacing hydrualic pipes, it won't be picked up in a future search. To my mind, that is the most important reason to avoid text speak and try and ensure correct spelling. (Starting to sound a bit like Teacher now  )

The way I see it, sometimes new members enthusiasm gets the better of them (which is a good thing) and its a case of "guys, guys, look what ive found!!!" Hopeing to have found something rare or valuable to tell the BX world about, which I hope will continue otherwise it may put people off from posting interesting stuff in the future.

Anyway, its still a bit too much money.

Hi Kieran. I think everyone on this forum would be interested to know how much you paid to Wolsley house for the BX. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh at some rallies. You going to the ICCCR ? Mark. :D

Glad you've joined up! I really liked the car, but it was the other side of the country to me so I bought a heap of an estate instead!
