Hi guys, I think ye are in for a shock so when i tell ye i paid £1250 for the car. Danny at Wolsey House did put 6 months tax on the car...I forget how much that was worth. My father and uncle came with me when buying as they had 5 BXs between them in the past so they know a bit about these cars. When he drove it my father said it was in better shape than any BX he had in the past (no LHM leaks!). The car did over 500 miles on way back to ireland with no trouble. Maybe we did pay a little over the odds but its a good car, and, if the chances of finding a good mk1 in the uk are slim you can guess what the chances of finding one in ireland are...! :D

£1250 seems expensive right at the moment, but it's where prices are heading. If you bought it to make a big fat profit, then I don't rate your chances. Otherwise, a touch over a grand for a tidy Mk1 BX with T&T doesn't seem that ridiculous.

I didn't buy it to sell it on again, so that's grand! :) Bought it to "restore", although there's not much of that to be done! I'll post some pics when I've sorted out the rusty doors anyway...

Mk2 doors do fit! And seem to be less rust prone

Hi Kieran, hope you enjoy your car - I'm sure you will. A couple of years ago 1250 for a nice mk1 might have seemed steep, in a couple of years time it'll seem like a bargain; I think you did well - look forward to seeing some pics of it. Everyone here is a hard bitten old cynic, but as soon as you need help with your car they'll cue up to get you sorted - you're definitely in the right place! 8) Oh, and welcome!

Thanks Paul. Well I've no doubt about that...I'm sure I'll be needing the expertise in the future... :)

Hi Kieran, and welcome :)

I'm not so sure you did pay over the odds - even Mk IIs in fairly poor condition are starting to get close to 4 figures now, and Mk Is seem to have more classic kudos what with the funny switches and all. Looks like you've got yourself a nice car there - if you don't have to spend any significant time or money on it in the near future, then I'd agree with Paul and Dollywobbler that the cost seems about right!

Reckon you'll make it over to the ICCCR in August?

Hi Kieran,
Before the ICCCR there's always the Citroen Car Club All Ireland Rally in Dun Laoghaire on the weekend of June 22nd to 24th (or any part of it). Would be good to see the car there :)
