For those who haven't got Facebook (yeah yeah, I know what many of you think of Facebook, I do too largely and don't use 90% of its "functions" so skip the anti-Facebook rants please, 'k? - thanks): update.

Owing to previous GP dismissing a long-standing condition, which should/would not have been serious if treated sooner, I've been deteriorating since about November last year, culminating in emergency admission to hospital in April (blood count was so low I was effectively the walking dead). Just about recovering from transfusions and waiting for an operation, had every intention of making it to Wetherby until keeling over the day before with acute proximal DVT (massive blood clot in upper thigh: excruciatingly painful and quite dangerous). Directly caused by originally minor, now major condition. As soon as the consultant gets back from holiday I should be able to sort an operation date - likely mid to end July - and hopefully be back in business September/October. They're as certain as they can be that it's NOT 'the big C', which is a huge relief.

Hope to be recovered enough for at least part of Stratford and/or CXM if it goes ahead under new management. Looks like the Hurricane will be remaining c/o Tim's local storage until spring next year though, when I can get it on the road properly, over here, and catch up with all the other niggles that need sorting after major works before it went into storage last year.

Finally and MOST importantly: I know lots of people have asked after me and thank you for your kind thoughts and good wishes - they are very much appreciated and I miss you all.

Good grief, thats terrible.

Is there a Stratford? Had not seen any info. Much nearer me. CXM is the other event over at Little Horwood? Might be able to help out, though it is 50 miles away.

Update. Like a complete twat, I have managed to put a ding in J119's tailgate :( - probably shouldn't have been driving today, no other way to get to the hospital, so ~shrug. 40-mile round trip - no problem, no nuns or kittens died. Reversed very neatly into NCP space for errand in town. Returned, absolutely needing to get home and rest, forgot I'd left the car in reverse gear and failed to use enough clutch when I started it up. Bang. All fixable, just horribly embarrassing, tailgate is now sporting several square inches of NCP carpark yellow paint.

In other news, obviously, I do now have enough mobility to drive short distances (today's the longest distance I've done since getting the DVT), and can also walk/limp a couple hundred yards (max) without crutches. Next up: getting to the point where I can go up and down stairs like a normal grown up instead of one at a time like a toddler (occasionally doable). Hospital admission 21 July so all being well, should be getting back on my feet again by end August as originally estimated. Completely confused my consultant at the pre-op today by referring to my "growth" as Ripley Junior - the junior doctor present got it and cracked up though
