:D Brings back happy memories - All that plastic and not a hint of luxury! I had one of these as a cheap drive and it was remarkably reliable and willing to be thrashed mercilessly.

We had a 75CL auto in 1980, first car we had with a sunroof, plus auto and a radio casette! 8) However when we took it through the car wash it lost both door mirrors and the aerial, it was last taxed when it was 8 years old so either it dropped to bits or it went bang.

I would love one though!

That reminds me - they had weird door mirrors with hinges on the trailing edge and a clip on the front. Presumably to save the mirror if the oncoming traffic got too close. Mine ended up 'swinging' once or twice but never went AWOL.

A memorable and much parodied strapline!

Built by robots - driven by idiots...

Check out Not the 9 O'Clock News, who did a whole sketch about 'Roberts' on a BL car production line!

Still chuckle-worthy IMHO

And here's the original full-length Fiat Strada ad!

Rather a cool ad for 1979, I thought, and especially enjoyed the gentle nod to 'The Italian Job' at the end.

Remaining completely off topic - sorry - I had a beige Strada back in the day, it was on an X plate I think. With a young family I had been seduced by its wonderful practicality, but it was almost certainly the slowest car I have ever owned, includiing my 2CV! I believe that when I sold it I bought a really disgustingly coloured Renault 16 and those were really fine cars.
