Maybe a different colour??
Better wheels??
Leather seats etc and you might just convince her.
Andy
I havnt got any money dude!
Ive spent it all on early 1990s French tat.

She wont drive my 309 as the steerings too heavy.
Frankly, the list of submitted concerns about the BX grows and expands daillly.
She doesnt like the BX as:
1) On principle, as I bought it without asking her if she wanted it.
2) Its filthy, and smells funny. (cleaned it thoroughly since then. Now smells like a Hello Kitty air feshner and Fabreze)
3) It failed its MOT (the fact that it passed after that only illicits a frown)
4) The drivers window shouts at you when you try and close it. This is true.
5) Its too big (always nice to hear from a woman, and something I can do nothing to alter)
6) It will cost too much to maintain............ Hard to shout her down on that one mind........
7) Etc.
8) Whinge.
9) Complain.
10) I want a 205.

So Im guessing Its a 205 then!

Looking for and buying cars is fun and exiting.
Looking for and attracting lovers is not. (not for me anyway. But I may be doing it wrong.)

Girlfriend wins Im affraid.
(Though i might keep the car as a tart on the side if nobody wants to take on stewardship.)

Why does that read (to me!) as if you've had a sex change?

It was more related to getting old Image

vnd, definitely keep the BX as a bit on the side - it's too pretty to live without :)

Everyone needs a bit on the side and one you can house in a garage is surely cheaper in the long run than one that needs a house. My wife is fully accepting of the other love in my life, to be point that she even makes sure I'm the only one who gives her a good thrashing. (a 2CV...)

Hell, bud, ime sure you can convince her that you are keeping a really lovely motor alive and well.
You will just have to infect her with this illness which seems to drive all of us who drive BXs. I know like many others on the forum that i have got it bad and am an incurable.
Maybe a TD will do the job? They tend to go a bit faster but dont drink the gas of a valver. Especially if you promise to keep it a minter inside and out. Anyway, tell her its much more class than a bloody pug!!

No, you aint getting old, just getting to a stage where you can enjoy life more and appreciate the BX in all her styles.
Never admit to gettng old until you have some of the aches and pains that i have. :o

I just drink more. :D

Andy.
PS and buy more BXs, damn, how do i cure this disease??

Sometimes you do have to make automotive sacrifices. Rachel was not at all pleased when I thought about getting a hearse a few years ago, but that was nothing compared to the look on her face when she caught me scouring the classifieds for a Leyland National!

Really, she's saved me from blowing a load of cash on something huge and pointless. She quite likes the BXs (though I suspect an 11E would be more her kind of BX than a turbo diesel with electric everything).

Ian, remind her that the TD BX hasnt got an ECU and therefore much more useable as an older motor should your alternator fail whlst going to/from a holiday in the Uk or abroad. Unless you stop the motor, she will get home. Cant say this about modern motors.

If he starts talking to his missus like that he's going to end up single pretty quickly as when girls get bored, they go

Problem is Andy, she considers anything other than a Mini as overly complicated and too big! She doesn't like the 'maybe/maybe not' power delivery of turbo diesels, power steering or power brakes, electric windows and central locking or horrible blind spots. The TXD scores badly! The TGD estate wasn't quite so bad as visibility is much better and the power curve is flat.

Cor blimey Ben! I turn my back for five minutes and you go out and get a BX, and one which smells of fags and dog. Plus ain't even a dizzler :D

Rule one of car buying: Don't tell 'er indoors if you don't have to.
Rule two: Tell them what they need in a car and sell all the positive aspects well.

But seen as that's been done, well I suppose you'll have to get that 205. GLWTS.

Now let me go back to thinking on how to sell the idea of a BX auto dizzler with a knackered cam and head.....
