Hilary, you mentioned the van might get a new paint job...

Just an idea...

Or a Citroen service van?

Glad it sounded like a good day; it's a shame I didn't make it :-( I was really hoping to, and the BX is on the road at the moment too. But it's been an expensive month, so the £60 it'd have cost in fuel had to be put towards more sensible (although less enjoyable) things...

I think, even for me, that might be a bit over the top…

My first idea of having the lower half from the waist down in a light silver is the one that appeals the most… Silver is good at not showing the dirt too much and will lighten the whole van. Although Citroen service yellow could appeal…

Michelin is another obvious candidate. I am pretty sure there would no problem using Bibendum on a well produced car. They might even offer some help.

If you think of the future on signwriting, for ease of sale, its better to keep away from the Joe Bloggs Chip Shop sort of thing and go with suitable branded products. If I was to do my Borgward, therefore a similar discussion takes place. Borgward Service barge. Bosch Autoparts, ATE Autoparts, or left field, Hans Motors. Strangely all of them feature blue.

Otherwise you think of something oddball. Like Newport Transporter Bridge Transporter, or Usk Mountain Inflation Company, I suppose. But humour seems to be dieing out on the road.

If you do a decent side-on shot and send the pic to me we can have some fun with Photoshop :)

I think it's fair to say that the X Rally 2015 was a great success! Thanks to everyone for making the effort, turning up and turning it into a really great day - even the sun joined us in the afternoon. I think there were 21 BXs in total (minus mine which had to go home with a failed alternator :( ). With general attendance about a third up on last year ( 84 cars in total) it was great to catch up with loads of old friends and acquaintances as well as encouraging to see lots of new faces and new cars (well not 'new' cars, but you know what I mean ). The standard of all the cars was exceptionally high with all the concours prizes thoroughly deserved. Infact the standard was so high we struggled to find a car sufficiently 'sheddy' enough for the Shed of the Show prize. In the end Hilary's 16 valve BX van just about winged it in the 'down at heel' stakes but not in 'Timex' league really; well done Hilary - I hope the LHM wasn't needed on the way home? :) There's loads of pics on Facebook (which you can find here \/ ) and I'll post up some pics here when I get a chance for all those who (quite sensibly) avoid social media like the plague. :)

Talking of Timex, where is Mike these days?
