My name is Antonio and I just got a euro BX to import to USA
A got a good friend of mine in Portugal that check the car for me, one owner car and seems really clean and take care of it.
I had my friend to drive it and no overheats no leaks only think it needs is the AC checked prior to ship it to USA. I dont think they use AC
Its great there is some BX lovers in UK, shipping parts from UK is fast and not that cheap in case I need it

Yes any car over 25 years old you dont have to deal with EPA beside the state of California. Because I am living in the state of Virginia I will tag it as classic , no property taxes just insurance with a set value

Well you certainly won't park next to another one at the "mall" car park

You right about that, I am guessing there is 3 or 4 total in USA, but mine is the only 88 GTI
Is my 88 GTI MK1 or MK2 ?
I think mine has the smaller engine 1.6L, used by peugeot, only 8 valves right? not sure if any parts available in USA I dont think peugeot sold any 1.6L in USA

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but your car is a Mk2, Phase 1, 1905cc, 8v GTi.

It could well be a 1.6 - they did 16GTi models in Europe, which I think had the 115bhp 1.6 lump from the 205GTi. Didn't get them in the UK.
And yes it is a mk2.

Thanks
I think kitch is right its a 1.6L 8V from the 205
I did not know was never sold in UK, is not going win any races but for USA 115 HP is already too fast LOL
Interior shoots
Engine bay with the 1.6L

Looking at the cylinder head it looks like a 1.6.

It has the Bosch Jetronic multipoint injection system.
Didn't the 1.6 injections use a single point injection system or was Jetronic a variant on continental 1.6 Gti's ?

Great job, looks great! Did I read right the VIN is VF7, so it's a french made BX? I thought Portuguese sold BX's could be made in Spain (or where does this BX originate from?). We do have at least one Spanish-made BX here in Finland, and it says VS3 as the first letters in VIN, if I remeber it right.
