At Tilford Rural Life Centre which is a lovely place for the rally. I hope to be there on Sunday.

Alas unless I can get any petrol tomorrow morning then it’s going to be a no show…

Found petrol early this morning. Great, friendly rally as always with half a dozen BXs in attendance. Alas, head gasket seems to have gone on the A31. Ironically there is petrol at the Esso, Hog's Back where we are awaiting the AA...

Glad you got there, despite the mishap.
Not far from our last abode in the UK, with The Woolpack in Elstead our favourite watering hole, and doggie walks across Hankley Common, sometimes dodging Army in the undergrowth.

Thankfully it wasn’t the head gasket, but a detached oil breather pipe spraying oil over the manifold creating a smoke screen that the Army would have been proud. Nevertheless still glad to be home.

Lucky escape from HG woes Jonathan. My GTi failed last weekend as well with a petrol leak at the rear end.

Hope all fixed, leaking petrol is not what you want right now!

Yes thanks, all fixed now. But it was one of those things that BXs spring on you when you need them. I was going to drive it from Oxford up to Durham so I filled it up with petrol the evening before but when I got home I had that tell-tale whiff and worse, there was a wet patch on the ground. It was dripping off the joint at the bottom of the auxiliary tank in the rear wing.
My excellent local garage were able to pump out the 2nd tank at 7am and back at home I remade the joint with a smear of RTV and two new jubilee clips and it is still holding up.
Getting fuel up in Co. Durham was no problem at all, even E5.
