That is mighty impressive. I envy your dedication to the BX :P
Dedication, not sure that's the word but I'll take it 😂.
It wasn't my first, I had a few including a white ph1 16v and 2 Gti's in a short time but I had to have a black ph 2 and it's still my favourite of all the ones I had. Ironically, it's hardly done anything since I took it off the road for a Volcane around 2000 ish so it's still original. I was all set for using it a few years back, had it taxed and MOT'd a few times and found I just didn't get to drive it. . A bit like many BX owners who have said the same, life and other interests get in the way and and as you say, things don't always go as intended only it's definitely not the car that stops me. On the few drives I have had, I am reminded how good it is. I love owning it and seeing it, like a Penny Black but a car with memories attached, I don't think everything has to be driven to be enjoyed myself. It gets lots of praise but I have looked after it, I don't like having things that don't work. I often wonder what to do with it but move on to something else fast 😂.

Funny how a thread called DKK can go off track but it probably makes owners think about their cars when new blood arrives @panky. 🙂
The Volcane is still a good choice. Shame you didn't get to drive the Valver as much as you would've wanted. It's a story all to common here. It's only us few who actually daily drive BXs who don't fall subject to such things. Though I must say, daily use and street parking isn't the best thing for these old cars. Still, it is preferable to them sitting in some shed.

Also, hah, we have hijacked the DKK thread a bit, but it does as you say - inspire us to think about our BXs.

I think the reason why I want the BX back more than anything is the fact that the "company car" is really not my cup of tea. I just don't like it. I prefer everything in the BX, from the driving position to the way it handles. It's just better in my opinion. Shame that there is a lot of work to be done on it.

New blood in an old body :D
I'm loving the way this thread has diverged and got folk talking. I'm no stranger to keeping cars for a long time, the Mini I sold to get DKK was in my posession for about twenty eight years - I've had my Commer Auto-Sleeper for over thirty and I'll never sell it - I can't see myself ever parting with DKK either. When the fleet eventually gets thinned down it will be the Morris and the Commer Jennings that I'll say goodbye to but not for a while yet  I might even have to buy something with air bags in my dotage

Collections change hah, but we always have those cars which we just can't sell. My BX is one of those cars, I just can't ever bear to part ways with it. With regards to the car with airbags - unless its an XM, don't do it. I made a fatal mistake with the "company car". I hate it, me and it do not get along whatsoever. I am speeding up the process to get the BX into tip top shape and then I'm abandoning this thing in a ditch somewhere (jk, I'll sell it and get a CX diesel or something instead, mainly for the A/C and smoother ride).

Mk1 parts are rare, I waited an age for a full set of Mk1 Hatch Flaps (minus the reflectors)

None of my business, but I do hope you have storage

Yes all tucked up at the moment and away from prying eyes:wink:
I didn't realise there was a difference between estate and hatchback flaps. These are the only type I recall seeing on cars, VEP had them front and back and I liked the look - hopefully the fitting is the same.

I've just booked my ticket too, in the GT of course! Perhaps we can get our two together Panky? I might even be cheeky and ask for a little drive of yours - to see what they are supposed to drive like (you are most welcome to have a go in mine also)

Excellent :D I'm sure there won't be much difference between the two but I'm up for some cross examination 8)
We would have had the country's entire on the road GT population there if Tim had booked his in as well in but I suppose two thirds will have to do  Looking forward to meeting you guys.

Awesome :D

howmanyleft say there was just 2 OTR in Q3 last year (which is their most up to date info apparently). Just you and I then Panky? IIRC Tim tucks his up over winter, the lucky thing. Likewise, I hope it'll be a cool event - with Hubnut as one of the founders I hope there'll be all sorts of cool and unusual stuff turning up!

Indeed! There are less than 20 though. I think there is also only one black and one white left, I've never seen the white one but the black i one is fairly well known. The majority seem to be bleu romantique or silver.
