As an experiment I wonder if the chrome finish Plastikote spray paint as sold in most DIY shops could be used, as it does (as long as applied correctly) give a smooth shiney finish.

Is it worth the hassle of pulling headlamps apart as they are really cheap off Ebay, alternatively you can have a pair from me for the price of a beer if you wish to collect them.

Access to change bulbs

OK. My Haynes manual describes accessing the back of the Xantia headlights to change the bulb, however it doesn't look that simple in reality.

Do I need to remove the headlight unit from the car before accessing the rear of it?

Its a MkII estate.

I wouldnt call approx £40 for a pair of replacement headlights that cheap....someone get some paint & post your results :D
