Yes pretty much the same thing

laden 3307lbs 1500kg
Kerbweight 2260lbs 1025kg
payload including driver 1047lbs 475kg

Kerbweight + payload including driver = laden as in maximum load = Loading Weight

i would say the pay load is the actual weight they sudgest you can carry,

i belive a hydralic Citroën can/will carry saftly a lot more than a srig and shocker suspension car,

i have seen in year gone by a freind fill the rear of a GS estate with paveing slabs, and it still drove/handled as if it were empty

regards malcolm

laden 3307ib 1500kg
Car fully fuelled plus people plus any goods

Kerbwight 2260ibs 1025kg
Car fully fuelled no people no goods

payload including driver 1047ibs 475kg
The maximum load you can carry legally including any people or goods

Maximun towing wight with breaks 2425ibs 1100kg
Maximum weight of a trailer / caravan including any goods or load in the trailer / caravan. Towed vehicle must have brakes and they must be functional. Trailer without brakes can be towed legally but the maximum weight is not quoted here - it's usually about half the 'braked' trailer weight

Gross train wight 5732ibs 2600kg
The 'train' is the car plus the trailer or caravan

Maximun roof rack load 165ibs 75kg
Maximum weight of an evenly distributed load on the roof (estate is 100kg)

Check the math (Kg) - kerbweight (1025) plus payload (475) = 1500 which is you max laden weight. Of this you could have 75 on the roof and 400 in the car.

Max laden (1500) plus max towed (1100) = 2600 which is you max train weight.

No no, you can carry (including passengers) 475KG, or, a bit under half a tonne..

You can tow just over a tonne with a braked trailor, but importantly you must have a suitable licence to do so, a licence issued after, er, sometime in 1997 I do believe is effectively VERY restrictive as to what you can tow.
But discounting towing, you may only have 475KG of load IN the car..

The easiest way to remember is to recite this every morning after your Prozac:

There is something more important than weight which is often overlooked and that is volume.

As in how big an item can you get in your car!

Yes i know what you mean. Heres a good xample
In my grandads bx EASTE we have this box where we put the dog and stuff in.
The Espance and the bx it used to go stright in. But the other cars my grandad had the Grand Scenic and now the xtrail. We had to make it thiner.

I think its becase of more saftey stuff the cas have now adays. Thicker pillars. Makes the outline of the car bulky. If you now what i mean. So that you used loading space.

In all fairness, one of my first BX's (about 14 years ago) which was an 8v GTi took a trip to the builders merchants and (having heard the hype about them being able to carry anything) filled the entire back (with the seats down) from floor to roof with engineering bricks.

Started it up, it rose instantly and off i went. Did two loads with no problems. The suspension had no issues with it, but now i'm older and wiser i cringe at the thought of how the tyres were feeling about it Rolling Eyes

Does really make me wonder how much you really could cram in one before it popped Question

The Xantia is capable of carrying a bit more than a BX..

You are right, 1000KG's is 1 tonne.

However, bear in mind that the MAX LADEN WEIGHT is the TOTAL weight of car plus luggage / people.
Therefore, the car weighs 1025KGS, this leaves you 475KGS for luggage / people making a total weight of 1500KGS, see?

Confused What's a Xantina? Sounds like a cut & shut using a Xantia and Cortina. Wink
