Vendor hasnt mentioned that last time it was advertised it stated the car was a write off? and still needs a clutch though.

Re: TZD Estate Again
As Richard has pointed out /\ it was a Cat. 'C' insurance loss and needed a VIC (VOSA) inspection the LAST-TIME it was on E-Bay,richardd1652 wrote:.............

Richard.
when it was supposedly sold for £310 (So what went wrong with the sale) ?
Please be aware that a CAT. 'C' or 'D' insurance loss WILL affect the value of a vehicle, compared to ones that have not been recorded as an insurance loss !E-Bay Seller wrote:Welcome to my auction.
Now selling my faithful Citroen BX17 TZD I have owned it since July this year its been a real work horse. I had a MOT put on in August 2010 plus replaced the main sphere and a CV boot for that MOT. My main reason for selling is it needs a few things doing to which I will short list below.
A a car went into my tow bar and smashed the front of her car up, mine was fine but the insurance company classed it a category C write off which they do with all lower priced cars when they pay out, that doesn't mean you can,t drive it any more it means you need to take it to a Vosa MOT testing crash testing centre to check any damage from the accident the cost is £41.00 for a certificate, my nearest is Poole Dorset but there is always one in most areas.
The reason I haven't done this yet is it needs a small amount of work to get the car up to scratch, and the Vosa wont get picked up untill I go and re-tax it in Feb. Please find a list of good points and bad points
Also please note that after a Cat. 'C' or 'D' insurance loss you also need a fresh MOT (If you intend to drive it on the road again) to enable to get insurance for the next/new owner or for the current owners insurance to be still valid !
So bearing all the /\ issues which IMHO need asking of the seller on this BX prior to bidding/parting with you cash (Rather than finding out after the sale).

a) With the current listing why no mention of the Cat. 'C' insurance loss as it does affect the value because if you where to be involved with a future insurance claim on this vehicle, the fact it has been the subject of a previous insurance loss WILL be taken into consideration by any future insurers !
b) Has the VIC test been carried out yet ? As the cost of that needs to be factored into the final price !
c) Also the current listing states it's MOT'd until October 2011 and the first E-Bay listing mentioned an MOT done in August of 2010, and the best you can do to a 13 month MOT is by taking it prior to an MOT expiring date is one month which would then mean an expiring date in September 2011 !
It may have had the accident after the August 2010 MOT and possibly another MOT has being carried out sometime in October 2010 so as to keep the insurance valid (So this really need's checking out before you buy) as if this is NOT the case then you need to budget for a new MOT too !

I know all this as I've just been thro' this scenario with my XM incident lucky for me that the MOT ran out in November 2010 (Passed again with no advisory's) which was after incident on October 16th 2010, but effectively I was driving around for approx. a month uninsured (unknowingly), as it's been involved in an accident/possible insurance claim !
Which for some minor panel damage is a load of boll**ks IMO if the vehicle can be driven and it does not compromise safety or the lighting etc.
BTW my XM was a Cat. 'D' loss and the fact it was a Cat. 'D' loss in 2007 (Also whilst in my ownership which was taken into consideration for the current value), what really annoys me most, is with both of my losses was the fact the the 2007 incident was an uninsured driver which hit my vehicle on my side of the road (Non fault).
Likewise with the latest (Non fault) incident which a woman reversed into my XM was just parked up on the road whilst I was inside my house !
So there you have it you've been warned, but all that put aside it should make a good workhorse for some-one and best of luck to the seller/new owner !
