Wanted: BX estate rear hp suspension pipes.
I need both the o/s and n/s rear hp suspension pipes for my BX estate. They have unfortunately fractured whilst changing the spheres. My car is now 31 years old.

Oh dear never had that before. The spheres are best loosened with the suspension still under pressure as this prevent any movement of the pipework. But its too late for you now to do this......
Good luck getting the unions out of the cylinders as they can be seized solid. Using some heat helps to free it.
So yours is a 1988 model ?

If you can get some penetrating oil on them that will help as well. Pleaides is the place to go they done me well over the years.
It might be worth think about dropping the rear sub frame to make thing easy it is 6 nuts and the pipes. Just support the car well.

Thanks for the info. I'll have another go at the old girl, and see what happens. I am getting on a bit now,
so these tasks are becoming less and less attractive. If it proves too much, I'll put her up for sale here.

Re: Wanted: BX estate rear hp suspension pipes.
Which pipes is it that you're changing?
The rear brake plpes can be done without too much hassle just the end fittings and a few clamps on the rear beam, the buggers are the hydraulic rams as Jaba says the fittings seize moreso the ram end which is a sod to get at and may need removal of the ram from the axle which then turns into a bit of a chore
Tip: to aid removal the fittings cut the old pipe away just above the fitting and use a socket on in not a spanner, gently does it and it should come out, if you snap the fitting off you're in s##t.
Your new pipes will come with 10mm fittings which are much more user friendly.
