About 50 miles from me, on Anglesey there is a guy who has accumulated a lot of BX parts. I went over this Saturday with Linegeist to have a look and I'll try and list what we saw:
1 (very rusty) 16v shell (minus engine, box and clocks)
at least one 16v bodykit (one black front bumper reserved for Doc but I think 3 in total)
various bumpers, doors, tailgates etc
16v interior
loads of driveshafts (unknown types)
Gearbox for XU engine
diesel pumps
ECUs
Various trim parts
2 sets of Speedlines, one anthracite, one silver
Weber 36TLP 1/100 carb (fits BX16RE '87 to '89 - thanks electrokid for the info)
He wants someone to buy the lot ideally but won't give a price, instead inviting offers...
He suggested perhaps a number of us clubbing together and purchasing them all; they could be still stored there and collected as required. Thoughts?
I have to be honest and say that they have not been stored with a great deal of care - although dry there is surface corrosion on the mechanical parts so I would be wary of things like the diesel pumps. Ideally someone would go along and assess/catalogue everything that's there before any kind of decision could be made.
Linegeist has kindly offered to collect bits for people and post them out at cost (I can assist with transport too when possible) if people are after individual parts. I forgot to get a rear wiper motor and a 16v spare wheel on Saturday, and Doc's bumper so I'll be going back quite soon!

I'm after 16V side skirts and rear arch extensions.
It would probably mean somebody cutting them roughly off the shell and me spending hours later on getting the GRP off the metal intact.
Would you be able to assist?
Thanks,
Mike P

Ooh, I've just had a homoerotic thrill....

I have to say your spanner wielding impressed me almost as much as your astonishing ability to demolish enormous quantities of food at supersonic speeds, all while still managing to hold a civilised (and intelligible) conversation (and not make a mess on the table!mat_fenwick wrote:Thanks Bob, although I can do a bit of spanner wielding (some may say I'm quite masterful) to save you the bother!

We've yet to figure out where all those sausages went so quickly ............

That’s nothing - you haven’t seen me with a bottle of wine! Although I’m not sure that the bit about civilised conversation would still hold true...Linegeist wrote:I have to say your spanner wielding impressed me almost as much as your astonishing ability to demolish enormous quantities of food at supersonic speeds, all while still managing to hold a civilised (and intelligible) conversation
Probably – I think there may be a bodykit off the car as well so that would be easier. I’ll find out and let you know.Mike P wrote:I'm after 16V side skirts and rear arch extensions.

I quite fancy a bodykit and speedlines. That white GTi look is a good one....

Hi. I'd be very interested in the anthresite(? rubbish speller) but need to hold off until insurance sorts itself out as she is being picked up on Monday due to pug driver taking out n/s front wing and ending up upside down in front of me
