That's certainly top money, I doubt if it will get that.
I would expect a set of alloys fitted on it at that price.
I would rather buy the £300 GTI in this column, and spend the money on fixing the car and some petrol.

It might be clever now, but it won't be in the morning!

I'm not so sure it is overpriced at all... Very nice cars seem to be fetching strong money (Not just Citroens or BXs that is), and I think going off past precedent, there are a lot more people out there who prefer - or have fond memories - of the 8v GTi over and above the 16v. I know of one, full history and well looked after with about 80,000 miles that sold for £2000.
And I quite like the fact it has steelies. At least they're original... If it's as good as you would expect a 56,000 mile car to be, in my book, worth £1800-£2000.
All I'll say is that I wish a black 16v in that condition would turn up. I know I'd get it for less than £2000 because everyone else keeps saying how little they're worth

The 8V GTI is underrated, that's why its not worth as much. It's a great car, and easier to live with than the 16V.
Perhaps older cars should be worth more nowadays, they were worth much more in real terms back in the 1980 and early 90s.
Now the UK is realising it is not as weathy as it thaught, demand for these cars might increase.
£2000 is not really expensive for a fast car in good order, all depends on what the purchaser is prepared to pay I guess.
