Well as the title suggests i just did the usual ebay search and was rather shocked to see it.

They are stripping it and selling it as parts but it still looks complete so maybe they may sell it as a whole?

Obviously i don't know anymore than whats on the listing but it looks rather good from the photos.....79k on the clock. Looks to be a bit of rust on the sills/rear wheel arch joins and the front wings are going in the usual place (easy fix) of more concern is the rust on the near side rear quarter panel- just above the bumper. Anyway looks good i think especially the interior...

So who's going to save it (or attempt to? Richard??! ) mk 1 BXs are great fun...honestly...in fact when they work i dare say i wouldnt want to be anywhere else...(no im not going to buy it!!)

P.S I still have mine, its at the garage and will be another 3-4 weeks, just so you don't all think i've given up on it

But that car looks in better nick than most mkIIs around! I wonder if someone bought every single spare part from it, they could re-register it? It seems a criminal act of vandalism to break that car!!!!

just got a reply - £500 - one owner, dry stored in a garage for a couple of years - supposedly genuine mileage. Someone get in there quick before it's broken

EDIT: This looks to be a fantastic easy Resto project. Is there anyone around @Northampton could take a look? There only looks to be a little rust along the line of the trim on a rear wing. Proper Mk1 too, not a mk 1 that looks like a mk 2, if you know what I mean?

Looks good indeed. I was already looking at a few parts that I need but then it's far better off complete.
Ian, Dollywobbler? Max?

Quick, before the Yorkshire terrier gets on heat! :D ( because though he's not making his presence known, we know he's watching  )

Sorry, im not familiar with the legal aspects of this; are you saying that as it is being broken it can't be put back on the road? (because its been certified as being scrapped/recycled)

"Proper Mk1 too, not a mk 1 that looks like a mk 2, if you know what I mean?" not really lol, maybe im more tired than i thought??!

Take it from me that is, a relatively easy mk 1 project; the interior looks great, just need the bottom edges to be expected really. Even the panels look good....

come on then someone bite his hand off for £500!!

Sorry - I'm a bit confused myself ;) to my mind a phase I should have little indicators... I think Todd has a phase I that looks like a phase II with the bigger indicators.

I'm not sure about the legal side - but if the paperwork hasn't been sent off and the previous owner is okay about it (it can't be through the scrappage scheme which was a fait accomplis once the car was handed over to the dealer). Worth checking though.

If I had the faintest hope of being able to get this car back on the road I'd snap it up - but I have to be realistic.

ahh i was thinking you meant the dashboard or something. lol. Yeah i see what you mean, i didnt always like the mk 1 front end to be honest..but it grows on you.

No don't be realistic when it comes to mk 1 bx resto projects  .

Just take it along to a decent garage i know, point to the mechanics own Citroen Type 23 lorry that he restored himself and say "i want my bx to be that good" then wait a while 8 months or so and pay a small fortune in in VAT  (i mean for what??!) and bingo you get a great mk 1 bx. Apparently i'll let you all know in a month!! Just think if we all did this and paid such amounts in VAT there'd be less scrapped cars and we'd probably plug that deficit thingy too

I do find it a bit puzzling as to why its former keeper didnt try to advertise it or actually sell it. I mean i know not everyone has ebay but i remember seeing a black one advertised last year on an obscure free site and it still got snapped up...or am i being too cynical...??

Phil, I was wondering about the previous owner - maybe they died? That's how I got mine.

EDIT: I hope that doesn't sound quite as dodgy as it now does to me!

if its been dry stored for a couple of years that could mean either the drivers been ill/passed away or cann o longer drive perhaps.

Mark 1s all had little orange indicators, Mark 2s all had the clear larger ones. For the 16v (always a Mk2) there was a Phase 1 (silver wheels, black splitter on front bumper) and a Phase 2 (dark grey wheels, one piece moulded front bumper with splitter). Personally I prefer the looks of the Mk2, both inside and out but I am in a minority I think. Although I will admit the Mk1 dashboard is cool!
