Our 1991 BX 19TGD

Post by anaconda »

Had this a couple of months now after a slightly nervous trip to Bristol to pick it up after an ebay auction. It turned out well. 63K miles. Virtually rust free (two 10p size surface spots at junctions of sill and rear quarters). Michelins all round and today calculated 44mpg around town...nice! My daughter is now thinking about getting one as she needs a motorway cruiser to replace her Fiat Seicento.

I really should invest in a decent camera.

Nice. Reminds me of my first BX, which was a 1992 TGD in silver. That had 145k on the clock when I got it IIRC, so yours definitely has some life left in it!

Yes very nice, it also reminds me of my second nearly new BX another 92TGD in Silver but with the grey tweed interior. Don't suppose it has PAS?

Yes it has PAS. Its exactly the same model and colour of the other BX we had, in the mid 90s, which had the grey tweed interior.

That was exactly what I had. Justin Shields seemed to get very excited about my tweed interior, but then he's a strange lad. :P

Yep, id like to keep this for as long as possible. Hopefully for another 100k. Ive been reading lots of old threads on here and can see us possibly getting another BX - multibuys on BXs seem to be very popular!! Its infectious. Spending the hard earned on 'extra cars' probably wont go down well with my wife though. Ho hum.

I need to soften the suspension on this one first...get the full BX effect. 8)

Lovely looking car that, thats odd, we also had a J plate 19TGD new in late 91, but that had tweed!

Power steering was standard on all Mk2 1.9 D models.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Will do Kevan, and the links were a good read. My ideal BX is a chrystal white Diesel saloon so I may look at changing at some point. White suits the BX particularly well. Yours is about as good as it gets. Good onya! 8)

Your 1991 BX 19 TGD

Post by bx petrol auto saloon »

Dear Anaconda.
Fabulous looking BX you have their squire, the car looks in very good
condition, I like the wheeltrims they set the car off very nicely indeed.
Very nice looking Citroen the BX,s are, How many BX,s have you
had and what other Citroens have you had ?
I served my apprentiship on Citroens at J.R.J Mansbridge-Lindum Cars
in Lincoln, when I was 15 in 1977 for 6 1/2 years, to when the BX had
just come out then. when I worked there the management said that all
the mechanics weren,t allowed to run Citroens, very stupid I thought,
I loved Citroen,s that is why I went to work on them. When I left in
1983 I bought my first Citroen which was a beige GSA, OTL 79 V.
I have had a 1985 CX 2500 pallas automatic, and in a couple of
weeks I am getting my first BX a white one. When she arrives I will
put some pictures of her on forum so that you can see her in all her
glory.
Well done on finding your BX and happy BX ing ! 8)

Glad to hear the BX is getting a turn. I wonder how it will compare with the CX?

I like the wheel trims though the slightly later plain flat ones with the straight ridge accross the centre suited the car best.

Hope you enjoy BX ownership as much as I have. :D

It wasn't the tweed interior Ian, it was the fact that the usually grey plastic bits (seat backs etc.) were all black IIRC!! Did it have a black dash and door cappings too? When was that, '98, '99??

You got any pics of that car?

I know the very last TG models had black trim instead of grey in part. greay seats and door panel inserts but the rest was black. Quite attractive too.
