GSA for sale
Sorry, I know it's not a BX
Owing to the price of fuel and being an impoverished student social
work covering an increasing mileage, I have had to retire my GSA in
favour of a 205 diesel.
I don't really want to get rid, because it is a fine car, but it will
be some time before I would be in a position to resurrect it, and
lying around outside will certainly do it no favours, so I shall
offer it to anyone who is looking for a good GSA.
It's a 1981 Special with the 1299 ECO engine and five speed box. It
has only 49000 miles and drives very well without flat spots and with
quiet cams. The bodywork is cosmetically a bit rough, with surface
rust on the lips of the rear wings and 3 of the doors, and the
drivers door bottom is rather tired, and there are some dents, the
worst being the front wing, *but* the structure of the car is very
good, the floors and sills being in good original condition, and the
last time I had the front dismatled (to do the timing belts, valve
clearances and to remove and clean the oil cooler) the undertray was
in perfect unrusted condition.
The bad points: The exhaust is blowing slightly at the joint between
the rear of the Y pipe and the back exhaust, the car needs the outer
driveshafy gaiters replacing (I have some to go with the car) and the
car will need 3 small welded repairs for its next MOT to: 1)The usual
area 6" by 4" on the N/S rear inner wing, 2) a 6" by 5" localised
area on the rear crossmember, and, 3) A small area on the front O/S
inner wing. Basically a day or so fiddling on for anyone handy.
The car drives really well, and has excellent recent Vredestein 155
front tyres, which suit the car really well. It runs perfectly, with
no hydraulic leaks, and I miss it already. It usually averaged 36mpg.
It has about 7 months MOT and Tax until the end of the month.
I am looking for ITRO £400.

Sorry, the GSA now has 6 months MOT and the tax has expired...
I used to frequent the gsf forum when I had my BX TZD, and am pleased and impressed that the best of it seems to have metamorphosed into other sources of wisdom and knowledge.

Why are all the cars I want ALWAYS up North?? In fairness, I don't really have the flexibility with the missus to spring for this right now (baby due yesterday, and I've bought an AX and an XM in the last 4 weeks!), but I so want a solid GSA. I've hankered after one since I was 10. Why couldn't this be in Chichester, or Christchurch or somewhere? Eh?

Indeed, I do already have the 205, so I can't really do swaps
I was very tempted to get another BX (or even a ZX) but I decided that if I was replacing the GSA it would have to be with something exceptionally economical. The shortlist was 205D or Mk3 Golf TDI; the 205 won due to less electrickery to go wrong and cheaper to buy. The wonderful XUD is hard to walk past...

OK David, I've broken the 205, tell me about this BX again... Could be very interested in a swap...DavidRutherford wrote:Have you already bought the 205D, or might you consider an exchange of some sort with a BX TD with a fresh(ish) MOT?
