Got my BX

So am I doing damage driving with these ones? Ride is very hard.

If it's very hard it won't be doing the struts any good.

To be perfectly honest, for the kind of money you paid for this car, I'd have expected everything to be in "right" condition. No sphere problems, no turbo problems, unless otherwise stated on the listing.

I've sold cars on this forum and on ebay, ask anyone who has ever bought one from me. I'd be having a polite word with the seller if I were you and just explain the situation.

You're right, but this has always happened to me, no matter how careful I am, I get screwed over. I still think it's a good car, but I will try and get in contact with the seller to see if I can get some money back for this, and the turbo.

I've fitted Amtex before and had no worries, but I found genuine ones at a decent rate on ebay from some company in Scotland. Recent dates on them too

Just to throw a further spanner in the works, my TZD Turbo estate DOES have fogs. It also rides harsher than I'd like, though it could just as easily be older spheres as GTi ones.

I was under the impression that the sphere fitment was based on engine rather than trim, and that *all* TD BX's were fitted with the same front spheres as a GTI, regardless of RD Turbo, DTR Turbo, TGD Turbo, TXD Turbo or TZD Turbo, both hatch and estate.

Too bl**dy-right. It might be a good car but for that price the seller should have guaranteed it's current serviceability: Any dork should have known his car wasn't right in the turbo department! - and by implication he hadn't driven it to discover that, in fact the ride was f**ked - so the seller has been far from correct in selling it to you, and should accept that he made a mistake! He owes you, my friend!

For that kind of money I'd have wanted it delivered by a nude blonde, have a full tank of derv, air con, leather and 24caratgold paint.

I'm still looking for a good TZD break, and regardless of where it was, if you had one for sale I'd be coming up to get it NOW.

Guaranteed? C'mon guys you're losing a but of perspective here. I'm not condoning dishonesty but this is a second-hand car from a private seller isn't it so it's Caviat Emptor.
No one ever used to buy second hand cars without looking at and test driving them first but some problems still could be missed. For obvious reasons distance buying is a blind and greater risk if you don't pre-view and generally expectations will be higher than the reality.
If you want good guarantees you will need to pay higher prices from a reputable dealer.

It's one of the draw backs of E-bay aint it.
That said I thought Tourist had viewed the car before bidding?

In which case if his mechanical ability is lacking perhaps it would have been better on his wallet if he'd taken someone along who knows cars..

After all, this is one bloody expensive BX...

No-one here is so naive to disagree on that point, but omission of important information from even an eBay listing has to be challenged... even if, strictly speaking. the 'tough shit' clause applies! And given the price paid one has even more reason to at least request some sort of compensation - even though (if you were being pedantic) it isn't appropriate!

BTW How many people buy BX's from a 'reputable dealer' (

Certainly I've only ever heard praise for any ex Ken car.

Absolutely, Chris I stand corrected! (I bought a TXD estate from him that was pretty near perfick - just ask Terry)....

Ken isn't a dealer though, as I understand (though he'd be a lot better than many!!!!).

Quite so, but reputable non the less...

Either way, in this case, if Tourist did test / view the car before bidding I cant see how he can say owt to the seller TBH.

If not then yeah, buying blind sucks..
