Does it actually make any difference at all? I had an Impreza a while back and the only clue was the superb traction when nailing it on wet roundabouts - probably not a wise move in a BX 4x4!!
I remember Top Gear testing it a number of years ago to see whether 4x4 gave more grip in tight turns for instance. It didn't. That was just before everyone stopped making 4x4 versions of everyday cars I think!
Now the trend is to jack up the suspension, nail bits of plastic to the wheel arches and pretend that it's a 4x4!!

Its a really subtle difference. They just feel much more sure footed on the tarmac.
Dont get me wrong, they're slower and much more clunky than the 2wd. I suppose theres something in my head that says i'm driving my Holy Grail BX!
Don't knock it till you've tried it,or so they say. When I first got my 4x4,my dad had a standard 2wd Bx which for some strange reason was bloody quick When I took him out in mine(bearing in mind I was new to the 4x4 expeience) He was sitting there saying "mine would have been all over the road at this speed" Although It's not as fast in a straight line, the 4x4 is an awesome tool over cross country roads and is pretty nifty towing a trailer tent!(see previous topics)It's also bloody good in the snow although the driver has some small influence on this

From Mr. M.I.G. welder and a supply of stainless tube & sheet.
Actually, I'm being completely serious. Do you have an old one as a pattern? I've made three full exhaust systems now. Two for land-rovers, and one for an Alfasud-sprint.
P.D gough of Nottingham makeStainless Steel exhausts, for the price of an o.e exhaust, maybe he could make a SS one for the same price that would last the life of the car.Marty you devil, stop tempting me with that comfortable looking white coat.PS,do they sell them in Burtons?
I've only got the downpipe floating round as a spare, the rest of it is firrmly bolted to the underside of the car, although if somebody wanted to make a pattern from it,it wouldn't take too long to unbolt
