1991 Citroen BX TZD 1769cc Turbo Diesel

Post by MalTZD »

1991 Citroen BX TZD 1769cc Turbo Diesel

MOT 22 Oct 2011
Tax 31 Mar 2011

Mileage 127,402 (this will increase as it is still being used).

Full service history (main dealer and specialist). A folder full of receipts, MOT's, stamped up service book, all handbooks present.

Bodywork excellent, no rust showing no nasty dinks, marks or chips etc...

Interior is outstanding, seat covers were fitted throughout previous ownership. I am not a fan of them so they were removed when I purchased the car.

Mechanically no issues, starts first time, clutch, gearbox and engine all as they should be.
Suspension is all good, no clicking.
Clutch replaced at 101,000, cambelt and all spheres replaced at 112,227 (2008). Glowplugs were changed at 118,615 (Dec 2009).

On purchase at approx 120k I changed all the filters.
It is due another oil and filter, so for the asking price I will sort this before sale. Or if the buyer wants to do it themselves I will deduct the price of oil and oil filter from the asking price.

It has a full matching set of Firestone tyres all of which have plenty of tread remaining.

I purchased this car just over 6 months ago as a daily driver, it has since covered over 7000 miles and has not missed a beat.
I have used it for my 50 mile daily commute and for several 400+ mile trips. During that time fuel consumption has never dropped below 50 mpg. On the longer trips I have worked it out as 59-60 mpg.

I have it insured on a classic policy with unlimited mileage and breakdown cover at an agreed value of £1500 for just £175.

Since purchasing I have obtained and fitted, a set of rear head rests, sunroof deflector and a refurbished set of speedline alloy wheels.

I may be willing to take a PX up to a value of approx £450 against the asking price. I am not expecting a minter for that amount, as long as it is mechanically sound with no major issues.
Any PX must have at least 5-6 months MOT & a couple of months Tax remaining. Plus it must be the same age or older than the BX so I can add it to the remainder of my classic policy rather than having to pay out for a new policy.
The classic policy still has 6 months to run and because it is 6 months old there is no refund on the remainder of the term, so I may as well make use of it.

Why get rid of this if I am I willing to take a PX I hear you ask?

1. Due to a change in working circumtances in the New Year I will be able to share the wifes car as a daily driver on most days. The odd days I cannot use her car the intention is to eventually use my SAAB 99.

2. I need to release some cash for a few bits and pieces to get my 99 ready for going back on the road.

3. Untill the 99 is back on the road I will need a cheap car for use on the days I cannot use the wifes car. This will then be sold on once the 99 is back on the road.

Asking price is £875 ono with no PX. (I have my eye on a couple of sub £500 cars at the moment if there is no PX)

Or firm at £875 with a PX.

These photo's are from when I purchased the car, underneath the current frost and winter road grime the condition is still the same.

These were taken within the past couple of days, it was -4 so she is covered in frost. So not the best images but at least you can see how she looks now with the alloys fitted etc...

Hi - I do like your 99, and your bx. Has the bx had a respray? It's just that it reminds me of one that sold earlier in the year that was the same colour.

Good luck with the sale.

Hi, Yes it has been up for sale on here before and has had a respray, receipt for it is in the history and it was not cheap.

Just needs some silver speedlines and some TZD decals for the C post.
Quote from the original thread.

Well it now has the speedlines and the decals, plus rear headrests (proper ones) and a sunroof deflector

I thought Brian (oilman) had bought this car, he didn't have it long either did he? Lovely car but it is a shame the excellent provenance is being ruined with all this passing about. With potential buyers now needing to travel greater distances to purchase such cars pictures of underneath the bonnet may help and perhaps pictures of the welding done to the inner wings and boot floor?
Good luck with the sale.

p.s. as Tim has suggested Car and Classic website is very good for selling classic cars and it is very user friendle as well as free.

p.p.s.
Are you sure you want to be selling this, the couple of hundred your trying to raise will go nowhere with swapping insurance etc. The Saab (also very nice) will wait :D

The BX was purchased as a reasonably cheap daily driver from Oilman. All I was looking for at the time was a sub 1K diesel.
In the 6 months I have had it I have covered over 7000 trouble free miles. I will be sorry to see it go, but it has served its purpose, I no longer have the room or time to fully maintain two classics.

I need about £300 to finish putting the SAAB on the road so the BX has to go.
Plus I have explained my other reasons for selling in the orginal post.

To switch the current insurance policy over to another vehicle will only cost an admin fee of £10 (I have already checked quoting the two sub £500 cars I currently have my eye on) hardly a large outlay and I may as well make use of the remainder of the policy. The SAAB is already on a separate policy.

The intention is to list it on Car and Classic this evening but I thought I would offer it here first.

It may even end up on ebay in the next couple of days.

It is a very, very good example, some will say it is priced somewhat high. I do not think so, not for one in this condition.

Hello

Very interested in your car as my TD Xantia has recently and unexpectedly expired. Pity your so far away and the weather so poor, I'm in Stoke and its snowing heavily at the moment. If the car is accurately described then I'd be looking to give close to (or maybe even) the asking price with no px. Getting to view it could be a problem though with the weather.

Hi Mark,

I can assure you it is as described, another forum member purchased this car at the begining of the year and I believe he commented on it in the thread I linked earlier. I purchased it from him and it was as described by him and still is.

I know it is not an ideal time to be selling. What with the current weather and just after Christmas. But it looks like I may already have a viewing (tbc) arranged for Wednesday.

Regards
Mal

I forgot to mention, the only fault with the car is a sticky Rev counter.
Most days it works, but on some days it goes to sleep.

I also forgot to mention it is fitted with a very good JVC CD player (with handbook).
There are also two sets of keys as well as touch up paint, original steel wheels, spare rear lamp unit (New) I cannot remember which side.

Plus if required two haynes manuals (BX 83-94 and Citroen Diesel Engine).

The joys of selling a car.
I advertised this car on another forum with the intention of putting it on on ebay after 2 or 3 days.
I was looking for a fairly quick sale, ok I know it is not the best time of year to be selling but I was hoping to have it sold by the New Year.

I have had in total five potential buyers, I held off putting it on here and ebay as I had three potential buyers in short space of time. All of whom were looking to raise the funds, for various reasons they all fell through. No problem with these people as it was my choice to hold on for them and all of them kept me well informed as to what was going on.
However just over a week had now passed since first advertising. So I then decided that I would put it on here on the 27th and ebay that evening.

On the 27th I had potential buyer contact me for a viewing that afternoon.

No problem, I spent 2 hours cleaning the car of all the winter road grime etc... No show and no further contact.

So I decided to put it on ebay that evening, but I had another member of this forum contact me before I managed to put it on asking for a viewing today. He seemed ultra keen, so I held off putting it on ebay yet again.

So I spent another three hours cleaning the car this morning, viewing was arranged for between 1200 & 1300.
At 1200 he called me to say he would not be turning up :wall: At least he called.

Other than the 'no show' and the time wasted cleaning the car each time I have no issues with any of the previous potential buyers.

OK rant over.

Car will be on ebay this evening.

Starting price will be £500 and there will be a reserve set.
