As you can see /\ Tim and I have saved this rare 19 TZD (Manual) from the crusher !

The story goes as follows :-
I rang the very pleasant lady who owned it on the Wednesday(Which was previously owned by her father from new), to arrange a viewing in the evening (was getting late/dark) so had a quick look around it first and took some photo's before trying to start it !

When I came to start it the battery was flat, so I had to use some jumps leads to get it started and gave the engine a check over and I didn't drive it as it was late/dark by then but just felt the clutch/gearbox box for the operation, I also checked the pedal box assembly which seemed fine/okay (but it is rather difficult to thoroughly check it 100% whilst still on the car).

The clutch felt rather stiff/heavy and the take up/slack in the cable was was about 60% of the clutch pedal travel so when the reverse gear was engaged the gearbox did protest a bit in doing so

Anyhow having took the photo's/checked it over I personally would have loved to have added it to my fleet, but currently it's too large (There no room in the Inn) basically!

So, as Tim showed some interest in it :-
Roverman wrote:I really fancy that
Also being Red it really needs an expert to give it a good polish, I therefore got in touch with Tim and discussed a plan to save it :)

Here are the initial photo's I took on the Wednesday :-

I then arranged a convenient time/day for all party's (Which the earliest was today) Tim and I arrived approx. 18:00 hr's @ Long Eaton, where Tim seemed rather excited and the first thing he noticed that someone had beat him to starting off the polishing task

Image

We then had to get the jump leads out to start it, after Tim had quick look over the car before we took it for a run to check out how the car ran (Engine/gearbox/suspension etc.), as we drove down the long road that the lady owner lived on there was this garage on the left hand side of the road with a White BX on the front (Well Tim was like a dog with two ****'S by then) so Tim pulled up to get his camera out and I swapped over to the driver seat so as to drive the TZD back but I position it up to the White 16 TZS for the 'Photo shoot' :-

Image

Upon getting back I spoke to the nice Lady owner of the Red TZD about the White 16 TZS parked up the the forecourt of 'Copes Garage' and if she knew about the White BX ?

But as it such a long road she didn't go down the road that far normally so did not know about it, however she did comment that she did know of the garage, as it's the same name as her surname (what a strange coincident/occurrence) :?

So as the lady was needing to go out, Tim dealt with the paperwork whilst I adjusted the clutch cable and tightened up the HP pump belt (As there was a squealing noise which Tim thought was the HP pump belt) but it was not, as he found out on the way home (I'll let him tell you about that) !

Here a couple of more pic's before we set off home :-

The 19 TZD can also be seen HERE on Google Street-maps 8)

Not sure, the tax ran out in 2004! its a 16TZS auto.... give them a ring, by the looks of it, she would clean up very well!

Ken its ok, clutch is as we thought just needed adjusting although its quite heavy so will get some oil on the pivot/cable etc, rear spheres are shot, it hasnt had an oil change since 2005! Front tyres are bald and the wheels are bent so it handles like a hippo on skates and one of the rear arms is on its way.

But its all there, complete with remote Plip! Father/Daughter owned from new and the engines sweet as a nut plus a massive history, a locally owned car from a well known Citroen dealer.

Oh and the alternator belt snapped on the way home, but it was squealing like mad anyway

Yes it needs a polish!

A good days BXing then :D

It has the same radio as my grey one.

Also I know where there is a couple of rear spheres that are not too bad, yours if you want them
 I could swap you them for the towbar :D

Seriously though, when I saw the car advertised, something about it said "buy me" and not too many of them do lately, so I'm really glad you guys have bought it =D>

Hi Ken,
As you've already stated, this 19 TZD (rare manual) was worth the effort to save it from meeting its maker IMHO with it being an 'unmolested/genuine' one family/owner vehicle offered for sale by a Very Genuine local seller from Derbyshire/Notts (i.e. what you see is what you get)

As you can imagine, it pains me to point out the slight discrepancy in the photo's below...

Now i KNOW you wouldn't possibly be abusing your companies trade-plates. After all, we all know that the insurance for trade-plates only covers official sanctioned professional use and if (god forbid) you should mow down a small child or expectant mother in one of your "personal pick-ups" i'm sure your MD would have a few questions to answer...

Like i said, i'm sure that's NOT the case... I'm sure it all went through the dealers books with paperwork, receipts etc...
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Discrepancy?, not at all just being doubly sure, I can let any interested party (I know how your worry for my well being being such a good mate in the past, thanks) know the car was taxed and Insured when the photo taken so feel free to take to the roads, I could tell you all about it but I am sure you will happily take my word for it. Also the drive home was accident free, so thanks for your concern.

Wecome back to the forum Jay, youve been missed.

Anyway work starts in ernest on the TZD next week.

I'm surprised Jay you didnt have a punt at this one yourself, as your regular on autotrader  especially when it comes to my GT anyway....

NB IF anyone would like me to send them a copy of my Insurance please let me know and I will be happy to do if you are prepared to return the favour, all things being equal like.

Your insurance wasn't in question, the MID clearly shows it's insured. Now.

I was merely pointing out that if you drove it home on your companies trade-plates whilst it was not actually owned (or legally in the stock of the trade licence holder i.e. your employer) you'd be in a lot of Sauerkraut should an incident occur. I always like to watch my mates backs...

You really didn't have to go to the trouble of editing your original post just to sanitise the floor with me, but thanks for going the extra mile. Love you too x
