just rechecked the bill and the above price included reseating the valves and guides.
This may sound a bit contentious and I know we all want as many of the breed to survive as possible but, I have to say sometimes the "its too good to acrap " comments do annoy me, at the end of the day its a car and its up to the owner what he do's with it. Any car thats scrapped yields hard to get parts that could keep many other BX's on the road.
To be fair I reckon most BX'S are worth more in parts than they are as a whole.

Not on the estates - or at least, neither of mine had one as standard.Caffiend wrote:Yeah, but has it got a splitter?

In theory you're supposed to do that to keep the valves the same distance away from the pistons, but unless you've had to take a lot off the head and/or the pistons stick a long way out of the bores, then usually you can get it back by using a thicker head gasket instead - there are various thicknesses available.Mickey taker wrote:just rechecked the bill and the above price included reseating the valves and guides.

Yet another BX in the stable.
Dear Andy.
In my honest opinion Andy, the BX looks far too good a condition
to scrap Andy
I haven,t done a head gasket on a diesel BX, but I do know that
time in labour is the costly part of doing head gaskets, the parts and
the skimming and pressure testing are not too expensive to get done
Andy
If you get the head off and valve guides don,t have any
play in them, they can be left alone.
There are people on here, who are diesel specialists, and can
recite how to do one line and verse
Well Done Andy,
I hope this helps
Vince.

Cheers Vince,
she will be done soon. Its a terrible shame the heads gone as she starts just fine and idles great. No water in the oil at all.
Ime probably going to put my N/A diesel up for sale soon once the TZD is sorted. Cant really justify runing 4 BXs even though i want to do so. She is a good motor too, a few rusty bits but ive spent a lot of time and dosh on her.
