I really don't understand hyping up the rarity of these cars and then getting annoyed when prices increase (OK not to the stupidly inflated prices of this ebay example, but in general). You can't have it both ways!

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
Happened with the 70s speakers that I fell in love with recently. A group had set up to talk enthusiastically about Ira Gale and the speakers he designed back then. By the time I joined in with them and learnt from their web based enthusiasm some of them were surprised that the value of them were suddenly rising and pricing them out of their hobby.

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
I don't have a problem with the value of our cars going up - after all I paid twice as much for Timex as I did for my previous BX 2 years earlier, which had done 90k less miles, had a full MOT and was in far better overall condition. That car, a 14TGE, also cost less, and was sold last year with a full MOT for less than either of these were originally up for.I really don't understand hyping up the rarity of these cars and then getting annoyed when prices increase (OK not to the stupidly inflated prices of this ebay example, but in general). You can't have it both ways!
If the shells are straight and pretty rust free, and the interiors saveable, then I recon the original asking prices weren't far off the mark.
On the other hand, to think that a base model BX (or any other for that matter) that's been off the road for years is worth more than a good CX or useable DS is laughable

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
I see that the 14RE (E442 STG) listing ended on the 11th Nov with ZERO bids also the seller had revised the initial listed price from £295 to £349, so no surprises that it never got sold !
I think both of these vehicles could end up meeting their maker
rather than being saved (If the seller needs the storage space vacated by a definite time frame) but only time will tell ?

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
Is that for the ended listing 14RE (E442 STG) or for the base 14 (F323 YFK) that still got a few days listing left, but as already stated. no ones going to offer £10kTim Leech wrote:............................

I also see from reading thro' the seller's questions and answers log, that someone has suggested he maybe on drug's

As the seller has obviously found/been informed of BXC forum, hopefully if he's reading this thread on his vehicles, he may then get realistic and come out 'Cloud Cuckoo Land' other wise I see the roof of the shed caving in on his preciousQuestions from other E-Bay members wrote:

The vehicle I have just needs new wheels and starter motor plus a good clean but never get time as I work guess I just need to pull it out and get it back up and running properly. Regards Matthew 11-Nov-12
A: Hi Matt, My problem is that my shed is falling down, I would need to fix the shed first. This additional cost might be counter productive as far as the restoration of the BX goes - unless someone bids on the BX at around the current starting price, I think from what advice you and others have kindly given me, this does not seem probable. Your belief that the BXs will increase in value would be great for us anyway, cheers,
Q: Hi there Thanks for the reply back I have checked mine is the same model but paid £100 for it 2 years ago of an elderly guy what are you looking to sell the car for if you have a price? Ideally you should spend at least £250 on the car as doesn't seem a lot to do clean it up and could fetch between £600 - £1500 as a chap sold a similar 1 for the price just a slight different model. Regards Matthew 11-Nov-12
A: Matt, thanks for your message, it looks like my base BX may well have a unique brother/sister clone with yours, I think we need to exchange photos of our BXs to double check this issue, A guy called Tim at the BX club is interested in mine, I take it that he is an expert on BXs - maybe he could inspect our BXs to double check - and do the maths on restoration costs - a matter in which I simply do not have a clue, cheers, Guy.
Q: You do realise that howmanyleft is not accurate. It ONLY includes cars that have been taxed or SORNed since 2002. Any car that's been off the road longer (like yours) IS NOT included in those figures. I know of at least one other, (possibly 2) on long-term lay-up. Having said that, i do hope it gets saved & not scrapped! 11-Nov-12
A: Thank you for that information - I never realised their was such a site with this DVLA info, I only found this information when I looked up the Citroen BX owners club internet site. I do not know of another BX base model car, I bought the car new in 1988 from Bouts Motors in Wolverhampton, I think they closed down soon after. I got £1300 knocked off the price, maybe £5750 OTR. I would be happy to hear from any other BX (base model) owners, thank you for your interest.

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
Its a shame we have to jump through hoops and go round the wrekin so to speak, the cars obviously arent that cherished or they would be in a better state, but they are still around and are quite rare, it depends whats important to the vendor, the cars living on or cold hard cash, as he bought the car new you would hope it would be the former.
I (and Im sure a few others) would happily rehome the BX 14, and get it back on the road again subject to it not being rotten but it looks very much like it wont be able to bought for sensible money.

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
I've just had a quick look at the seller's E-BAY listing and see its being revised by an additional photo of the 14RE :-

Also some very optimistic revisions with what he thinks to lure someone to part with £10k
which planet is he on
I'm sure we'll be seeing this pair of
's re-listed !

The guy isnt wired up right Tim, i would leave it all alone and let him ponder his navel a while. Then he may come to his senses and contact you.
I would reccomend you dont chase him as i dont think anyone but the scrapper would be interested.

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
Also Tim,
having only recently collected a BX on a bloody huge trailer but only big enough for 1 motor, how the hell would you get them both home without huge expense? For short distances this is possible as i did it with my mate Tim acouple of years ago but to you it would cost a lot of dosh, far more than these 2 rusty[rare maybe] Bxs are worth.
Best left alone bud and dont let the adrenaline rush get to you. I have had enough of that jumping out of hairy planes.

Re: Two very dusty red BX's (1.4)
Listing now ENDED with ZERO bids (No surprises there) !
But I see in desperation the seller dropped the starting price in the dying day's to £1999.00 ! Was he thinking he'd even get that much for both of them ?

Question & Answer Answered On
Q: Hi Guy. you mention a van, is this a classic worth doing up? if so how much are you asking for it? cheers Andy 18-Nov-12
A: Hi, It is Boxer Peuoget type 1997 121K miles - unused maybe 5 years, I may need it when I move out of my premises. cheers.
Q: Good evening its Richard again. I will increase my offer as there are now 2 cars although it really is the BX14 that interests me more , to £250 but can you please tell me there overall condition and how long the barn has had no roof protecting them? Are they rotten? and how easy will it be to get them out? Regards Richard, 17-Nov-12
A: Hi Richard, Thank you for your interest again, I have 3 people asking me about the condition of the BXs, Unfortunately Many years ago I had locked the keys to the cars & my caravan in my safe - and then I forgot where I had hidden the key to the safe. I have now - after having a massive throw out today just found this key to the keys. Now I can sell the caravan & my van and the safe as well. Re condition?. After so many years in the shed, the shed itself 90 years old & is likely to fall down soon. So after the auction ends tomorrow morning & if no one has bid I will examine the inside and engine areas of the cars. To be fair I don't want to make any claims for the cars, assuming no one buys them, I will take many photos inside & outside the whole cars for the next listing. Re removal, that could take a while, My Van has been standing for many years behind the BXs & I expect the brakes will be seized etc, + I will need a tow truck or something to move it, also tree has taken root. Cheers Guy.
Q: Hi, i have a base model BX19RD, similar condition to yours but a little older and it does start. It was given to me for free recently. Keep on making such listings though, you make us all laugh and just add to ebays profits with all your listing fees. 16-Nov-12
A: Hi, Well if I relist at £110 (as offered) - less £20 for 2 insertion Fees & an £11 auction Fee I could end up with £79 . SEVENTY NINE QUID. cheers,
Q: At £9,999, does the barn come with it? 14-Nov-12
A: No - are you interested in the shed?
