rust glorious rust

Post by rutter123 »

i have now given up trying to get the tzd back to the mot centre within the 14 days retest time, have decided to give the car a 5yr major overhaul as there are many areas needing lots of attention. a small rust patch on the inner n/s wing has now turned into a major fabrication job after cutting away most of the rusty seam, and to the rear the small rust patch on the inner sill is now pending removal of the rear axle to repair it properly so will change some pipes and rear arm bearings at same time, also some work req around the rear bumper supports, fuel tank straps and fuel lines also need replacing. jobs also pending sunroof frame broken, oil water temp gauges to fit, carpet/ interior removal to dry out where sunroof channels have been blocked, install new sound system, etc etc the list goes on all work to be completed by end of april if it ever stops raining/snowing. will try to post pics of progress.

Sorry to hear about all the problems, but glad to see a car like this being rebuilt where a few years ago it would have been scrapped.

I wouldn't go so far as that ^ - but pics would be interesting, yes please.

I think for me it's more schadenfreude - relief that mine, although I'm sure I can hear the metal oxidising as I drive it, isn't *that* bad.

I'll have you know I never infiltrated from Yate - I stayed where I was in the Aerodrome Estate, as there was less chance of being chased out by the posh kids!

Mind you, the Sodbury Yacht Club is always worth a visit.
