1986 BX19 TRS Estate - Be quick or its off to the breakers

Post by fleetmapping »

My Blue BX19 TRS Estate (D Reg) has been unused in a dry integral garage since 1999. When last driven, it was in full working order with a current MOT. The engine has not been run since 1999 so I cannot tell you what the condition it is currently in. (The bonnet catch is stuck so I have been unable to access the engine compartment).

The vehicle has just under 88,000 genuine miles on the clock . There are no dents or scratches to talk off apart from a bowl shape indentation on the roof where items have been stored on top of it. I imagine it can easily be pushed out. There is some paint flaking on the roof under the luggage rails and a few discolourations elsewhere. There is surprisingly little rust but some on the rear wheel arches. All in all it is in very good visual condition given its age.

I have posted photographs at https://plus.google.com/photos/10023008 ... 1649599745" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have provisionally arranged for the vehicle to be scrapped next Wednesday (27th Feb) but feel the vehicle is in too good a condition to be destroyed so thought I would advertise it on here in case there is someone who would like it for a nominal sum. I'm not looking for a fortune! (The breaker will pay for the vehicle).

If you are interested in taking the vehicle on an 'As Seen' basis and can remove the vehicle on a low loader or similar vehicle by 27th Feb. please let me know ASAP.

The vehicle is located near to Taunton, Somerset

I'm guessing this is an early Mk2 as it's a D reg? There certainly aren't many around this early so hopefully it can be saved, although the petrol engine may count aginst it - hope not though!

Ooh, Taunton is less than 20 miles from me. Pictures would be interesting... I thought the MK1 TRS was only available with the 1.6 XU - except in the GT of course? But then estates were a different thing so who knows!

Yeah this'll be an early mk2 if it's a 19TRS.

If it turns out there was a mk1 19TRS I'll go and get it :lol:

There was that mega mile D reg RD last year that was driveable and still failed to find a home, although I seem to remember both a suspect head gasket and some rust issues on that one.

It wouldn't be the cheapest motor to run, but sounds like it's a good basis for a resto, and even setting aside that fact it's very early I'm struggling to think of any other 19 petrol estates of any age!

If someone wants it but cannot find the space in the timescale, I may be able to put them in touch with someone with storage over at Warminster where it'll be safe for a while.

Further to my initial post, I believe this a a Mark 2.

The reason the vehicle is off the road is that we bought a replacement car in 1998 and my wife would not sell her beloved BX just in case she wanted to drive it again! Sadly, it has not seen the light of day since then and we need the space in the garage.

I have posted pictures at https://plus.google.com/photos/10023008 ... 1649599745" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I removed the cover of the area behind the rear seats for the purpose of taking a photo. It is complete and in good order.

When opening the rear door, I discovered the gas struts need replacing. Ouch !
