NEC nominations - Poll for voting in Events section

Post by Caffiend »

Suggestions of cars to go on the NEC stand in November here please :). The criteria:

The car must be available from Thu 14 November afternoon latest, to Sun 17 November, late afternoon/early evening. If you can't be there the whole time then you must be happy to leave your keys with someone.

We need a good mix/variety:
- one red one - it's the colour that everyone remembers - whatever the mark/model (hatch/estate)
- at least one Mk1
- at least one estate
- at least one "performance" model - 16v, 4x4, similar
- a "project" (or post-project) car
- a special edition perhaps; and a good mix of colours - not all red/white!

Not all cars will be concours - but will be expected to look loved and cared for: washed and polished before they arrive so it's easy to give them a quick 'once over' once on the stand.

Post your photos, stories, links to blogs/gallery threads on here below please. We'll try to get a decision made on likely participants/reserves by mid-August. Ish. I will ask mods if we can get a poll or something nearer the time to make it vaguely democratic :)

OK, off you go. No pictures of scantily clad women wrestling in mudpits to be posted unless there are also pictures of scantily clad men wrestling in mud pits. Separate mud pits, naturally, what kind of forum do you think this is?

Event organisation stuffs (volunteering, non-car content etc here)

EDITED to add link to "logistics" thread (and keep all the arguments here? ;P)

As mentioned elsewhere, we really need a 1983 BX. Are any known?

Andrew, can you edit your post to add in a link to your blog and/or gallery thread please :) - just makes it easier for people who haven't met the Aubergine in the metal yet. Ta.

Perfect Paul, a limited edition diesel with a 16v style bodykit in the best possible colour.
If only it was an estate you could have had the stand to yourself lol,

Well I will still have the TZI auto and GT (with new wing and correct bonnet), which of course you can have if you like, also Leech Towers (the new bigger version) will be made available as a free B&B for any no local types displaying/assisting.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

May I congratulate the BX Club on getting a stand and to all those who have put in the hard work to get it.

Your welcome to use my Athena, it is completely standard c/w official Citroen towbar (has saved 2 BXs' from death) and towbar wiring. Not quite a rough hack but a few dings etc. Course I could lend the really dinged one! Show project - rebuild this in 3 days..
Hopefully in under a week she'll be MOT'd with her engine swap, new clutch, new CV boots etc. Guess I'll need that steam clean - and 1/2ltr BX grey metallic. I've got 2k primer, undercoat and laquer. She should clean up reasonably.
I lent my Morini once at the BMF rally in Peterborough and it was in 'normal' road use condition but had about 90k on it at the time. A high miler to go with the spotless/show versions.

BTW Having seen a couple of 19RD with over 500k (miles not Km) on 'em that's what I call a high miler.....

Sorry I missed the bit where it said to put a link to the actual car you're submitting

Here's a link to the GT restoration: http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 13&t=16821

Image

Was my car originally but now owned by my Dad. Restoration has ground to a bit of a halt in the last couple of months due to a mental workload here, but that should even out again soon. It's getting there and should be done for November (unless it's nominated for the stand, in which case it WILL be done!)

Then there's the 16v: http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 13&t=16213

Image

I've had this since 2004 (in two days time it'll be 9 years) and been through alot with it. That blog is only more recent and I haven't been using it much so there's not much in there. It does scrub up well though and if it's nominated I'll probably bung it in the bodyshop to get the little bits and bobs sorted. Always been meaning to get them done but never had any motivation!

The estate....well unless you want Timex mk2 on the stand I'll leave it be! The others are there if you want them and truth be told it would be a bit of wish come true to have a car on show in the NEC.

Whatever happens, you do need a ph2 16v on the stand IMO. Was crying out for one last year.
