"They" being me!
Square port (i believe) are the earlier ones, but i've been lead to believe they're also on the 17 & 19 n/a of various years.
I bought it in error for my TD after the cambelt snapped, fortunately the no3 cap was all that was required to repair it (and a camshaft).

Ah.....I would have thought if you were selling a part, it would be in the for sale section, and if you saw a part for sale you thought worthy of mention, it would be in the spotted sectionJayW wrote:"They" being me!
So you don't have an XU9 head?

Re: Brand New XUD Head
I offered it up here many many months ago with no interest.
According to the new write up on the main forum, the "For sale" section allows for "No eBay" ads.
Your plight reminded me i still had it

Re: Brand New XUD Head
Actually, re-reading the forum headers in this section (although th above statement is correct), they are somewhat confused and lacking clarity/ contradictory...

Judging by the current rain, you may want to use the Defender...

Re: Brand New XUD Head
We haven't got a Defender. Used to have a bright orange 110 TD5, maybe you're thinking of that? It was horrifically thirsty and gutless as a gutless thing. Good fun to drive, in a sort of crap car way. Never got to mud-plug in it, sadly. Had to change the headgasket after it blew in the Scottish mountains though. That wasn't fun.JayW wrote:Judging by the current rain, you may want to use the Defender...
Got a Discovery now. 300TDi jobbie, with an auto box. Jap import with about 90k miles on it. Did some reading and L/R experts seem to think the 200TDi is ok, the TD5 was fit for use as a boat anchor from new, and that the 300TDi was brilliant. Drives quite nicely and has a fair bit more urgency about it than the old Defender had. It too has blown its head gasket recently, however. Unlike the Defender, you don't have to be flat out everywhere when you're towing the trailer
Just noticed I've got carried away talking about Land Rovers

Re: Brand New XUD Head
Square port heads are for BX's up to around 1987, and were changed across the range with the introduction of the TD models, although for some reason they carried on using them on N/A Peugeots for a few years after that.
