Replacing front strut return pipes-the long ones

As above the time has come to replace the front strut return pipes, not the short pipes that go from the strut to the inner wing but the longer ones that go from the inner wing to the lhm reservoir inside the plastic tubing. Have nipped the ends back once or twice and refitted but now the rubber tubing is splitting endlessly and need replacing asap, anyone tackled this as they look as tho the pipes run thru the subframe?

That'll be the legs of the octopus then. If the legs are like that then the rest of it is likely perished too .

Snipping them back tends to cause them to split frequently, if you put a fuel hose clip (not a jubilee clip) round the end it stops this.

But as W2G says, it's the octopus. If it's general condition is ok you could just extend those pipes and carry on.

They don't go inside the subframe, just all over the place

I've taken to replacing low pressure return rubbers with silicon equivalents, usually with the same id. But I'd agree that it's only a stop gap until the inevitable is needed.

there's only one rubber leg of the octapussy that runs through the plastic sleeve, the other N/S leg return in there is plastic,
except the short length that joins it to the metal pipe under the chassis rail
